Hello everyone! I'm a long time lurker. Only recently made an account. I'm quite slow to warm up, but I'll do my best not to be annoying. ^_^;; I'm also prone to writing with too much verbosity... I'll try to keep myself in check, but this is an introduction post--SO TOO BAD FOR YOU! My Experience with 40k I've always been enamored with Games Workshop's art department. As a kid, the box art for the models and the cover art for the codices/novels always caught my eye (the few times I was in a Hobby/Gaming/Book Store). For me, at first, it was very much an "Admired from Afar" kind of relationship. I finally got into the lore/mythos a lot more when Dawn of War came out. It seems that game was a gateway for a lot of us. The internet was a much better resource of information at that time too. In college, I made a friend who was totally into tabletop wargaming. He mainly ran space marines (Ultramarines) and... Eldar, I think (he rarely played them). In Fantasy, he mainly ran Dwarves. He lent me novels for lore, and he taught me the game (both 40k and Fantasy)--we'd proxy models he wasn't using at the time--and I found it pretty fun (even though he would always defeat me). Bruised ego aside; we split the cost of the Assault on Black Reach box. He got more "Smurfs" and I got some starting models of my favorite Faction: da Orkz. I love both the Fantasy and 40k Orcs/Orkz for their inherent humor (but I prefer 40k as a game overall). I always get a laugh running them, and my Wargaming friends always get a thrill of killing hordes of units. I never tried to count, but I think I have a Win:Lose ratio of 1:19... -_-;; I don't only play Orks, I also have a Space Wolves army. I was also considering getting a Chaos Space Marines army started (probably Word Bearers), but then the ol' Wargaming group started to split up by then. I still have my armies, but they are in boxes. There's not a big wargaming community where I'm living right now. So I'm hoping to live vicariously through this MMO with old and new 40k buddies! The Small Question How do you update your profile pic? I've tried to manually update it in the forum; but every image & image size I upload just comes up as a blank "missing image" box. I've been searching for an answer on the forums, but nothing I've read thus far has worked.
