Tried it a little, but I'm their fan mostly about the grand strategy games... Nothing beats being the emperor of Britannia, having a succession problem because heir to the kingdom of England is your hunchback, cruel, wroth and craven son (that obviously everyone hates), that refuses to die on the crusade you made him join...while next in line is a brave, diligent, ambitious and strong French nephew, that is actually the bastard son of your father, so your brother...all that while your vassal, the king of Denmark, hates you because (due to lustful trait), you gave the "grand tour" of the emperor's quarters to his wife, during the last feast, with the side effect of twins (that look just like you) appearing 9 months later...true story...
The tension is killing me, and in the end it'll probably just be Empire 2 or Medieval 3, or maybe something new set in like the mongolian empire or whatever.
I'd really love to see Medieval 3 someday aswell. I had a campaign in the second one where I owned half of the map, that is until the timurids got way too much wind under their wings. I had two to three armies against their one and I lost so... This tells something about my tactics But, I'm really looking forward to this and once this comes out, I got plenty of stuff to do while waiting for EC
The total war I've been looking forward to the most is a WWI themed game, total war's gameplay would be perfect for that... That being said, i definitely wouldn't mind (and i'd actually prefer) 40k total war. I can just picture the thousand-strong armies clashing the way 40k intended it, Titans included doesn't Sega only have the warhammer fantasy license tho? i don't want t get my hopes up, but i wouldn't mind switching from 40k to fantasy just for one game
I have dreamt of this possibility since I learned Sega piked up the franchise. Oh my heretical gods, make it so! We have so much to conquer! And I mean the Big 4 and G/Mork.
World War I or World II would be awesome! Not only for the politics involved but the sheer size of battles that occurred in both world wars. That said - I welcome any total war game regardless of Theme or setting. I would love Creative Assemlby / Sega long time if they make 40k Total War. Just saying.
World war 2 would be awesome, but other than d-day, most large scale battles were fought mainly by tanks, and to me, gameplay like that of Company of Heroes was much more appropriate for that setting. World War I focused around the infantryman, and tanks/ air raids were rare, i think that would go perfectly with Total War's style. Also horses were still being used, which is a great part about all total war games A thousand men in a trench taking heavy artillery fire. CO screams "Over the top!" A thousand men charge into a wall of machine-gun fire, hiding behind their tanks. The massive scale, no cover, all-your-cards-on-the-table warfare just gives me the chills when i think about it in a total war setting Thats also why i would love to see a 40k total war, the combat styles are very similar EDIT: ...and titans... just... titans...
So much you could do with both settings - Especially since they have integrated player controlled naval warfare into Rome 2, Empire and Napoleon. The battle of the Atlantic would be awesome! Especially since submarine warfare was a thing since World War I at-least. That said - During the early war (World War II) Horses and Bicycles were used extensively by both Axis and Allied forces. Especially by the french. Horses were used allot by Russia (Cossack) during the early war. That said - Allot of Expansion packs could be made revolving around World War II and World War I. Things such as an eastern front Expansion / Scenario pack that focuses on both the Allied and Axis for that theater. Kind of like what they did with fall of the Samurai or Fall of the Samurai Expansion packs. I personally want to sink an allied supply convoy with a U-Boat wolfpack. That said - The Battle of Jutland would be awesome! You have allot of these dreadnaughts and other ships that are duking it. Either way I look forward to seeing what Creative Assembly has in store. EDIT: for those who cannot wait - Here is a Mod for Rome 1 Total War - Warhammer Fantasy Total War.
