Nice. Now that I think of it - the 3rd scenario would be pretty damn fun. Of course we would require a willing GM who would gently push the story along from time to time - after creating it of course. And how would the character system work? Create our own character with their own personalities, qualities, gear and class?

GM'ing is perhaps even the wrong thing.... if you go with a scenario where each player has a necron lord and his own world and stuff, then you can progress just together and can decide together what is going to happen next. and in the PvE (scenario #2) there wouldn't be really such thing, you just go ahead and take everything down, just balanec the fights with your writing not that you blindly kill everything and have a Mary Sue necron army. So I think you don't really need a GM, just gotta decide on the scenario and then let it take it's route
Oh regards gear, chars and so on.... I would propose with low amount of players that everyone goes Necron Lord and makes own tombworld and later on ppl join as characters under him (i.e. Lychguard) or also make own tombworlds. That would give more freedom to everyone and also more interaction as with each growing tombworld more conflict and "politics" will follow as more will oppose or join the Silent King for his ultimate crusade against the Tyranids to protect the galaxy so the Necrontyr have one day the possibility to regain their bodies (no life in milky way, no chance on old life back, the life before the c'tan)

Personal aides; Harbringer of Destruction Eletris the Bright, Kryltarus - leader of Zaryheret's lychguard Current objective; Liberating Kausera Primus from Imperial insurgernts, and overseeing the full awakening of the Tomb World. Well that's my character. I'm going to make a small story for him soon enough.
