Yeah but as I said before it's a highly unnecessary mechanic, and I've decided that was a dumb concept. Just a fun one to watch in practice. I know for a fact Astartes can eat a creature and gain it's technical knowledge, they've been shown to do that in order to use xenos tech before. Hardly something you'd expect to have time for on an active battlefield and knowledge is hardly the bridge between using either of the racial psy-weapons or the tainted weapons. I'm sure that's a stretch of lore and also I'm 94% certain that's how space herpes originated too
This gun/ammo issue is a much bigger problem than the function and mechanics of the Warcouncil which has been run into the ground several times over in other threads. Since this game is so PvP/War-centric, the least they could do is get said mechanics right. A SM picking up a Shokk Attack Gun is not doing it right, especially when there's the distinct possibility of multiple SM's doing it.... Hell, I'd even TRY to make that happen on a large scale. Also, this brings up an even bigger issue... what happens when a hero class "picks up" one of these giant weapons? You really want to break the game? Watch a Farseerer shoot a Shokk Attack gun with extreme reliability and accuracy.
let me start by saying I have no intention of offending you. yes it is correct what you have quoted but its not set in stone. It seem highly unlikely that this would be in the final game when it comes out. I would expect when an enemy dies they would leave ammunition rather than their weapon. Devs say many things but not necessarily implement every thing they say. I think this is one of those things that's why i did not take it that seriously. I think its more of an idea right now and Miguel just spoke his mind. to clear everything yes i agree that the idea of any race using any other races weapon according to lore is HERESY, but then again at the same time I dont think we should take this very seriously. Plus lets not forget behavior has to go thru GW approval and they will throw their Ban hammer on it . GW takes 40k lore much more seriously than us fans wont you agree?
Except that the lascannons explode with greater force than a Plasma Cannon, and has twice the Aoe range. That's what we're talking about.
The stats for using enemies' weapons will probably be worse than using the weapons of your faction maybe even make them dangerous? It would fix alot of the concerns people are having. But Orks should have systems revolve around looting weapons and bigger rewards for taking vehicles giving both to meks so the whole faction gains Resource Points.
Two good ideas, only one I agree with. Heresy aside, coding those weapons differently per faction basically doubles the amount of work with each side involved - which is a lot of code and even more testing. The easiest solution for the devs in this case would be staying as far away from what Migeul said and alleviating everyone's headache by not trying to fix what never was broken in the first place. Clear as mud? Excellent. The second idea is great. Loot all the fallen gear. It really does make sense.
Then really what's the difference of dropping ammo like any other game? It's an even easier solution, even if it's still a blanket band aid over the real problem of lore shattering mechanics. If the game magically ignores the lore of the universe (kinda like SM, but they at least tried [really hard tbh]), it's becoming less and less 40k, and more and more like PS 4.1 with a SM skin.
