Just an idea, but what if each faction had a figurehead or demagogue that was a prime assassination target? Aka a walking objective? What if there were multiple targets? Obviously this could be the War Council, but I'm not sure if the WC is yet a thing and I could see this being implemented quite easily. Thoughts on the digital manhunt for Orkish Osama?
Could be something. Also another possible way to introduce NPCs and things that usually aren't around the battlefield (perhaps members of factions that haven't even been included yet, but who are out for diplomatic/whatever-the-hell-they-want reasons.).
I know i wouldnt mind hunting for some specific target. I mean,my behaviour in games like this is already that which of a hunter, seeking and eliminating prey, especially if said games would involve Tau/Night Lords. Still,is it really apropriate? There are two options, make them NPC,or PC. If we make them PC,those players will have to be extra carefull, maybe not even being able to take on risks like going into battle. Now that isnt really fun for them is it? If we make them NPC,we have the AI factor, that dictates that AI,no matter how advanced, can be studied, and then exploited.
I think that the relic or man hunthing idea would be fun. maybe it could be a mission given from your HQ. (like sm hq comanding a small scout unit to kill a ork warboss and give them a special reward or a temp debuf for the orks) If you would do it like that you could have endles variation and for the people who prefer hunting over brute combat it could be a lot of fun.
