I've been thinking about mandiblasters and their implementation into the game and I came up with an idea. We know that players will be able to block melee attcks and have 'block bar' which degreades as they block. We also know that players can break through an emeies block with a kick. I was thinking that mybe mandiblasters could be used in a similar way but rather than charging up like a kick has an instant effect.

I also thought maybe they could be used as a stun or a special attack that can only be used every now and then to deal damage (or possibly a combination)

So what do you think of these ideas? agree, disagree? have your own idea? Reply below with what you think.

Nice idea. Using mandiblasters to break a block or interrupt a swing would give SS a nice edge in melee.

Before anyone starts up the "OP!" wagon remember that most other close combat specialists will have jump packs.
    VoxC and So-Kiel like this.

Thanks, I agree with your point about jump packs too.

What if you "stacked" mandiblaster shots for example if 3 Scorpions hit the same target with the mandiblasters then there's an added effect?

They should do damage even if the enemy is blocking but I don't see any reason why a weak short ranged lasgun should break anyone block... maybe something like 1 second blind if you headshot the guy...

I take it you guys feel you should be able to aim the mandiblasters? Not sure on that myself. Melee is more about timing and if your trying aim your face guns your going to leaving yourself open whilst you do. Plus whilst the character it going through its sword swing animations it would be quite hard get the blasters to fire and look right. Where as if firing the mandiblasters was a specific melee "move" like a sword swing it could be easily incorporated into the cadence of a melee sequence.

On that note I'm hoping that we don't see the big sweeping swings used by the Mehrines for our animations. I would like to see quicker more precise swings and thrusts use by our melee classes, with a quicker cadence to their fighting style i.e. more swings per minute.

As for the mandiblasters breaking block. If a melee opponents face starts spitting metal shards at you which then are blasted into plasma by a series of laser shots, it would kinda put you off a bit. It's not really the force of attack it's the "Surprise! Face Dakka!".

Aiming mandis would be weird and clunky. It should be auto. A guardbreak mechanic sounds pretty likely.

I'm not after aiming as such. More they shoot into what you're looking at.

I always thought the mandiblaster should be kind of like a secondary fire, you aim your shuriken pistol and instead of LMB you press MMB to fire the mandiblaster... I wouldn't mind if they use mandiblaster in our regular melee combos or if we can rapidly fire them after a block... there is a lot of possibilities and I'm open to almost every single one.

maybe it'll just be an extra attack while we swing so that our opening strike is faster, it shoudn't flinch or have aoe maybe if we're going off of TT rules, just extra damage at whoever you're locked on to
