So have been thinking about the lack of lsm and csm helms we lack them or at least ones we think are cool looking , Maeby some ideas for them and armor because I would like to see unique designs for both eventually, preferably chaos as I hate the horned helms so much. Here are some designs that both factions can use. Ideas for armor design are welcome show me what you have in mind.

Chaos can only use 2, 3, 4 and 5. The rest are loyalist only. Chaos do not have updated helms really.

I would probably play Chaos more if they got some pre-heresy armour. It suits them more than LSM.

To a lore-nerd, why are loyalists uses 10,000 year old armour in-game?

I would love to know the same reason you would seem to think that they would be swaped as lsm have more options to go on. Right now I think they are both too similar and need to be defined even if by armor first. As far as I know not much has changed csm wise in the 41st

Most chaos armour variety would come from Warp mutations. Not actual armour.

So helmets missing halves that are replaced by daemon flesh, arms that have busted out of the armour due to deformity etc.

A few possible answers:
- Nostalgia. Back then everything was better. Emps was around, Primarchs were a thing, no heresy, less grimdark.
- Traditions about wearing specific pieces of armor for certain ranks/positions.
- Some chapters just like old things (like the Consecrators).
- The older something is, the more legendary it can be. Past deeds and stuff.
- General attitude of older things being per definitionem superior. (Isn't necessarily the case, Deathwatch book Rites of battle gives all armor sets rules: they are different, but for allrounder builds the newer ones cut it slightly better.)
- Shits'n'Giggles.

Doesn't explain why the First Legions we're playing are predominantly MK7 users (they're actually all using full MK7 bar Daemontouched equipment which are shoulder pads only currently.)

Doubly so when you realise LSM is using MK3 (typically connected to Iron Warriors who can't access it), MK4 (Not really tied to either side but that speaks for how common it is on both sides) and MK5 (Heresy Pattern is it's name for a reason and it's one of the most common Chaos Space Marine armours. Loyalists meanwhile are cited as having destroyed their suits of this armour in a lot of cases or broke them down for spare bitz and gubbins.)

Which really bugs me because these bits of armour look great in game, especially the mark 5 which I've wanted purged from the dawn of time itself. bE made it look great but I can't use it on my heretic. Great.

Being totaly lore-wise: Pre-Heresy Technology is superior to its newer counterparts.

Most of the technology you see now is just ''reverse engineered'' of the equipment you had back 10 millenia ago since the knowlodge to actualy build em was lost as the Imperium slowly regressed into religious fanatism.

Also we talking about equipment that takes years to even begin to show signs of rust, so if well kept they can be used without problem, wich is what the Adeptus Mechanicus have been doing just to be clear. (correct me on this one)

I mean, why are current LSM wearing it? Isn't that sort of stuff reserved for 1st company veterans or Chaptermasters?
