Yes. We have simulated a neuron very accurately on a computer. Human-like AI will likely arise from simulating an entire human brain. And, realistically an AI civilian's combat potential wouldn't be really terrifying, because we're not going to build them to be murder machines. But their bodies will be made of pretty solid metal, yours will be made of flesh and bone. We wouldn't give them super-strength. Their vision wouldn't have the weaknesses of human peripheral vision because they'd use cameras instead of eyes, and their hearing would pick up a wider range of sound frequencies than ours does. Also it's worth noting that at that point, computer tech would probably have advanced to the point you could have a robot body if you wanted one. It wouldn't be a killing machine either though. The military might have robot bodies built to be killing machines, but they absolutely wouldn't let you take it home with you after your service is up.
:: facepalm :: Yeah, those aren't robots or AI at all. Those are humans. Flesh and blood humans with various enhancements, but still humans.
I doubt industries would use metals for "civilian" AI rather than lighter and cheaper plastic materials. but this is going off topic
I was thinking, like, the stuff a computer case is made of. Because unlike current robots, the body you're building is for a person with rights. Being fragile would be a huge, huge downside when the contents of that body are, essentially, a life.
There's an old one called Damnatus. Very 40k-ish, don't get too attached to the characters. Stop-motion animation for stuff like Sentinels is pretty lulzy though at times, and it's only available in German. If you haven't done so, you should also watch Event Horizon, the closer to 40k anything not-40k could ever be.
