Limiting Skill

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Sledgecrushr, Jan 14, 2014.

  1. I have read in several posts that the developers are looking to limit the effect of skill in shooting and melee combat will have in fights.

I would like to know what you guys think should be done to reduce the effects of skill in this game.

*personally i would like a 100% skill based game where the better player gets the win

I think you got it wrong there...they try to limit the skill usage, not player skill.
Skill usage like having tons of skill buttons on your UI, etc.
Actually they are promoting player skill with the decision not to use any aim-assist, auto-targeting and auto-attack.
If I'm wrong, someone will correct me, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

This is how I understood it.

I would hope this is the case. Hotbars, more often than not, are a turnoff for me.

  5. I had read this post from a forum post by Kanthric,

Its not truly a 'shooter', because the plan is for there to be a number of more complex elements going on - and the devs have indicated they want to limit how important 'twitch' skills are, which is normally the opposite of how shooters balance skill and power.

Nah you got it spot on! Or at least this is how I understood it.

I think the OP just misinterpreted it.

    I hear ya!

Hotbars or atleast skill bloating is or at least should be a thing of the past. In modern games you need to be able to do your job with 15-20 skills at most! Then you can be left with say 5 slots for travel related skills like mounts or quick traveling and then 5 for self buffs and medi packs etc.

  8. Whilst what Kanthric said is true I think you have misinterpreted it.

Well, it's a more of a TPS , team-based, open world mass PvP MMO, with many different races and classes, than a FPS multiplayer game with the only difference between avatars being the texture and the gun they carry. That means that twitch skills are there, but won't help you much if you go alone against a organized fireteam of 10 people. You have a class with specific strengths and abilities to use, you got organized mass PvP...twitch skills will come behind tactics and teamwork 9 out of 10 times...I hope this makes sense...
  10. could i get a link to that what kanthric said?
