what is the most touching moment, with more feel and drama of all the war 40k universe (all the time line)? for me is the moment where the emperor realize that horus is beyond redemption. But before the retcon, was the sacrifice of ollanius pious.
The first which comes to my mind is when Guilliman realize that Lorgar firing on his fleet isn't an error. He WANTS to believe that it's only a consequence of their quarrel, and his 1st chapter master, Marius Gage has to FORCE him realizing that it's really a treason. Just after, the first time that Guilliman loses his cool, when talking to what he believes to be Lorgar. The noblest Primarch of the Imperium, for the first time swearing and making the oath of killing his once former brother and his entire legion. And after, when he said that for the fist time, his sons will have to fight with brute determination and guts rather than with his teaching. But he knows deep down that's what they do best. ("Know no Fear") Some others of the most emotionnal moments I know in the HH are with Rogal Dorn. When he talks for the 1st time to Nathaniel Garro and hit him so hard he nearly break his jaw and so fast that Garro didn't even saw the hit because he refuses to believe Horus's treason. (in "Flight of the Eisenstein") Or in "The Last Remembrancer" when he understood that Horus wasted an entire ship and sent him an "emissar" ONLY to make him lose hope in the future. And that deep down, he knows that he succeeded. There are also outstanding moments with Kharn in "Betrayer", but for themoment i only read this one one time so I don't remember them this well. I will come back later, this post won't be enough to list all my feels...
one of the most sad moments of all is just the story of magnus the red, and that whole betrayal/misunderstanding. also, sad that he can MYND BOOLET an IMPERATOR TITAN, but give him a primarch with little to no psychic abilities? OH SHIT TOO MUCH I DED! obviously the entire horus heresy though...thats the primary reason i like 40k. such an incredible story. edit: actually...now that i think about it, the most heart breaking part of 40k that i know if, right after the emperor vs horus and the irony of his fall, has got to be the first (technically second) event in their descent into chaos. remember in horus rising when they encountered that human civilization that had laser bows and arrows? that just...made me have to stop reading and hold my head in my hands. heartwrenching. so much chance for discovery and remaking. horus wanted to become better, and EREBOR WAS SUPPORTING HIM! really put into perspective just how evil erebor was, and is. i love him and hate him...or, my black templar self HATES him, and my word bearer self is very admiring of him.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Panacea_Wars#.Ux9aQxB_u9E Such a touching conflict... moves even the most cold-hearted archon there is
Hmmmm.... Most touching conflict? When the Ultrasmurfs attacked the Word Bearer home world. Word Bearers should've slaughtered them while they had the chance.
The struggle of the eldar of Saim-Hann beside the Raven Guard's 8th company - their grudging allies - to stop the orks on Lepidus Prime (cf. Shadow Captain novella). I don't wanna spoil you what happened there, just say that I felt really sad for the children of Isha all along.
When Ferrus was betrayed by fulgrim, when Magnus watched his legion being destroyed. The drop site massacre. Isstvan III betrayal. So much backstabbing
