From honor cometh iron! - Unbreakable Litany of the Iron Warriors How's it hangin' everyone, I'm Crowley. I've been a fan of Warhammer 40k since I picked up the first omnibus of the Gaunt's Ghosts novel in the 7th grade. Unfortunately I couldn't bring myself to finish it, the second omnibus brought too many tears for me to continue with my emotions in check. Since then I've read the Iron Warriors, Iron Hands, and Eisenhorn omnibi, plus the first few books in the HH series. While the books were what greatly moved me into the fandom, it was probably roleplaying the Fantasy Flight RPGs that my knowledge of the lore grew tenfold. I own the entirety of the Dawn of War videogames, plus THQ's Space Marine. Somehow I ended up falling in love with the Tau, somewhere along the way, and would say they're my primary army, though after a cousin of mine needed to get rid of his IG army, building up my Firewarriors have taken a backseat until I learn how to properly play the table-top. I'd say my knowledge is weakest in respect to the Eldar (both dark and... undark) as well as the Adeptus Sororitas. My favorite chapter are the Iron Hands, my favorite legion being the Iron Warriors (as if that wasn't apparent), and if I had to make a choice between the 4 Dark Gods, I'd go for Nurgle, as at least I'll still keep my sanity, at least marginally. Outside of WH40k, my interests reside in practicing on my bass guitar, videogames and cosplaying. Currently my only costume is The Engineer from TF2, but I plan on doing a series of 40k cosplays beginning with the Catachan Jungle Fighters and working my way up from there to Space Marines. I had first heard about Eternal Crusade from Rock, Paper, Shotgun and had only recently been catching up with the Livestream episodes, news, and whatnot. While I had my doubts before (GW greenlighting that MOBA game being the leading cause), they've since been completely obliterated and once I have $40 to blow, I'll throw it at a founder's pack. (Iron Within!)
First off--welcome! My friend that got me into this madness had similar sentiments. I never brought myself to read it. Woo! Another Tabletop RPG player! Which 40k Setting(s) did you get to play/run? Dawn of War was great (I'm going to miss that franchise. As I'm sure you've noticed--if you liked Space Marine--you'd probably (hopefully ) like Eternal Crusade. Good choices on Chapters & Legions--they are under-appreciated nowadays. And Nurgle is a good choice--'cuz Papa Nurgle loves you!
Welcome to the crusade , just finished reading Angel Exterminatus, not my fav HH book but worth a read if you are into the Iron Warriors.
Well, so far I've played just about everything except for Rogue Trader. Unfortunately I've never been able to play long in some groups as their attitudes kinda spoiled the fun for me or became inactive after a short while. Out of all the games, I'd say that I enjoy Black Crusade the most due to the flexibility it offers. Thanks to everyone who replied to the thread and welcoming me to the community!
