Best to go with?

  1. Iron Warriors Squad

  2. CSM + Conversion Kit

So I've been looking to make an Iron Warriors army as the title suggests. Never really got into Chaos on TT but figured I'd try and start. Looking for suggestions to fill out the bulk of the marines. The big question is would be better to go for the 20 count Forge World squad ( or get some normal CSM with the Iron Warrior Upgrade kits ( + when it comes to customizing the squads, easier/mitigating conversions from 30k>40k, ect.

    Let me know folks! Thanks.

so first off, that Iron warriors tact squad is a waste. All it is is the plastic MK4 from Betrayal at Calth with their Iron Warriors Body Head and Shoulders upgrades.

If you are going to do the forgeworld ones, just buy calth and the upgrades and then you get 2 characters a dreadnought and a 5 man termie squad essentially free.

2nd are you wanting to go into 40k or 30k? It hurts me with every fiber of my being but if you are brand new I would suggest doing 40k 8th ed because it is much more beginner friendly. The GW Chaos marines are much more chaosy if you are doing 40k though the Calth box is still the cheapest way to quick build an army.

It would be for 40k. Not super new but new enough for sure.

Calth set does seem far more economical, thats for sure. I want less so of a chaos-y Iron Warriors look and stick with their Horus era look with a bit of mix and matching here and there. It gives them that more unique legion feeling that they deserve without having to go all out into right field with like Rubric Marines

I would get Burning of Prospero instead, Iron Warriors are known to favor the older marks like Mk2 and Mk3 armor due to how heavy they are.

  6. They also like their Terminators.

Plus you have the choice to sell-off the Characters, Custodes, and Sisters so you can buy more goodies for your Iron Warriors.
