Not following the mage into the woods, Noburo returned his attention to Ulrich and Shaila (since her train of thoughts aligned with his own), for the moment ignoring the newcomers. "Agreed, we should remain here for the night. However I think that the news of our arrival will spread, if not already, and that the friends of those "bandits" we killed on the road will come looking for us." "We need to fortify the village and prepare the defenses," the Kensei stated it after couple of minutes of looking around the place, "This will be a long night and I would have our men switched in two shifts, one sleeping and one staying on the guard, with their weapons at the ready to repel the enemy. I would also take the capable villagers and form them into a proper militia so when the attackers come, they find us ready." Obviously he thought that the attackers will arrive, there were no "ifs" in his mind. "I can organize them myself but since this is your land and your customs are not my own, I would not want to accidentally insult you or your people, so I leave this to your decision. But I insist we prepare ourselves and this entire village for combat before the night falls."
Gunther looked to the sky hoping to see something that was not there, and sighed heavily and looked back down and saw Ferdinand carrying someone a knight of some stature it seemed. Gunther jogged over to help him and asked while lifting the knight to aid Ferdinand. "What happened to this man Ferdinand? Do you know?"
@Maleth @Shadhunter @Wata Being ignored in frustrated further from what he was normally was he left the two women to whatever they were up to. "Forsaken deaf fend maidens that no not to here are rarely needed on the field of battle lest they get in the way," Red said under his breath as he left the two chattering with each other ignoring him, and now looking to the commander likely talking to him. "Indeed I do have business, I am mercenary sent here to join your group, Former captain, Red of the blazing phoenix, son of the former house of the Blazing suns," Red said to the commander, putting his hammer on pauldron, "Where am I needed and what is our current task, I am eager to get to current job." Red said looking to the commander.
Cyntheria looked to Noburo and spoke in there language to him showing a little worry in her eyes. "Please allow me to suit up and go to the mines. I will report what I find. But I feel like I can get a little bit of answers. I ask you to please let me go." She gave a bow before looking to the townsfolk trying to find anyone that seemed out of place and slipping one of the tiny eggs into her bag to check out further.
"Alright, Cyntheria-chan," Noburo replied to the girl, "You are free to go and to do what you think is for the best. My honor bounds me for lady Gwyneth at the moment and I cannot leave her out of sight, for I fear that those who want us dead will return for us tonight and I must keep her and everyone else in this village safe." "You just look after yourself and make sure that in case you meet greater resistance than you can deal with, return to the village for reinforcements."
Cyntheria nodded and bowed speaking in there language. "I shall return with any information I can get. An I will return if in any danger. I will keep myself safe. I have given you my word. I will die keeping my word." Cyntheria bowed to the group before walking away until she could change into her armor and run off towards the mines to search the area around and possibly what could be hidden inside.
@Vlayden @Shadhunter Arthur bowed to Benjamin's level to get a proper look, his expression one of pure confusion and amazement. He poked Benjamin carefully with a finger and kept staring, his nose still bloody. A few other peasants also remained, puzzled by Benjamin. "It really talks. I used to hear stories about talking fishes who grant wishes." Arthur straightened his back and looked at Shaila. "Is it a wishing rat..ferret..thing? What did you wish for?" "Oooh, I bet it was a pot of gold!" One bright peasant wagered. "Or a good looking wench!" This went on for some time as the peasant group argued about what one should wish from a magical wish granting ferret. One of the peasants who had ignored the wish conversation, pointed to the hills without looking away from Benjamin. "There's a path that leads straight to the mines and the hills are easy to spot. We don't go there anymore, with the dangers and all." He said with Arthur and others nodding in agreement. Seeing how Arthur had calmed down considerably, he was hesitant to leave the town at night. "I..well..I actually shouldn't leave Beth alone with what is happening. I can lead you halfway there." Arthur scratched his beard and looked to Shaila and Benjamin in turn, waiting for their answer. "In all my years, a talking rat..." He muttered waiting. @Vulpas @Shadhunter Ulrich sighed tired after that little thing. He wasn't used to having Benjamin around yet, he thought would he ever be. He nodded to Elisa and watched her leave, Cyntheria soon after heading towards the mines as well. "Anyway...welcome to the group, Red. I have heard of the Blazing Phoenix. But what we need is a night watch, Shaila is right about that. We also need ways to bring whatever is killing the wildlife down and more information on it. The elder had no idea what that thing is out there." Ulrich paused when he saw Ferdinand ride into town with the dying man. Guess it wasn't just wildlife getting killed to whatever is prowling in the forest. "I don't like this at all." Ulrich excused himself and went to see about the sickly man. @OgrynLord @GrimFritz Meanwhile by the dog, its owner looked at the eggs the dog vomited and looked mighty puzzled. "I have no idea. That dog does eat anything it can find. Finally found the poor boy but it doesn't look good, does it?" The girl pulled on her father's sleeve, tears rolling down her cheeks. "He hurt Hay, daddy." She said quietly. Her father tried to offer an assuring smile and patted her head. "It's all right sweetie." The girl looked at Urghak and took his apology poorly, hiding behind his father's leg. Their moment was interrupted when the Nordlich knight rode into town. @Colapse @ItsTime "Hmm, that does sound wise. I'll see if I can gather a few capable peasants, then we can start tra-." Victor answered Noburo but was cut short when he saw Ferdinand ride into town. He knocked on the carriage's door and spoke in a soft voice. "Lady Gwyneth, I fear you are needed again." Then he helped Gunther lay the man on a table that was set on the square. He removed all the various tools and things from on top of it to make room for the sick huntsman. Gwyneth emerged from her carriage and pulled her hood down. Her hair illuminated the darkening day with her silver eyes like shining starlight. Peasants quickly started to gather around them all, mouths agape and amazed by Gwyneth's splendor and beauty. She hurried over to the man and quickly looked over his symptoms. The hunter stared at Gwyneth, desperately gasping for air. Even the sight of the Saint gave the man relief. Victor backed off and gave her room to work. With Ulrich, he kept the peasants back and their Saint safe. Gwyneth smiled assuringly and placed her hand on the hunter's forehead. Color started to come back on his pale face. "It is all right, what is your name?" She asked. "W-Walter..." The man croaked, sweating heavily and still trying to breathe proper. "Just breathe easy, Walter." Gwyneth assured him and began praying in a soft melody. She held his hand while her words worked their magic, arcane holy light shone from her hands as she healed the man. People started whispering and some even prayed as well. After a few moments, Gwyneth closed her eyes from fatigue and retreated from Walter. Walter then sat up on the table and looked about. He was completely fine now, blinking in wonder for what just happened. "All I can remember is getting stung while hunting and then it is all a blur." Walter said and made sure he had all limbs attached. He checked his calf, which had the exact same bite pattern as the dog. "What just happened?" "I healed you with Elusine's blessing, not to worry." Gwyneth said smiling warmly and took one deep breath to alleviate the drain. Walter just stared at her mouth open. The peasant who's dog was sick scooped up Hay in his arms and hurried over to Gwyneth, his kids running behind him. "My lady! Fair lady! Forgive me, your grace, but my dog, he is dying could you...maybe...I mean no offense." Gwyneth looked at the dog, then the teary eyed kids, her heart melting in compassion. She placed her hands on the dog and repeated the prayer. Soon enough, Hay sprung back to life. The kids laughed in happiness and the dog shook himself awake and barked happy. Hay ran circles around Gwyneth, making her giggle. @Colapse Most of the townsfolk were now praying and asking for blessings after seeing what just happened. Ulrich and Victor began to disperse the crowd, seeing the drain hit Gwyneth now and it being late in the evening, she was very tired. Victor singled out peasants that looked physically fit and willing after the people had been driven away. He brought ten of them in front of Noburo. One of them was a woman. They did look fit, but far from soldiers. Hands calloused from work, missing teeth and equipped with the average peasant intelligence, it'd take work to make them capable fighters. "You think this lot is worth anything, samurai? Potential is there...somewhere." Victor said, sizing them up once more. @TuskatheDaemonKilla "You saw the thing that attacked the man, Nordlich?" Ulrich asked from Ferdinand after everything. OOC: Update for those who went for the mines will be coming, I haven't forgotten about you @Maleth and @BloodySoulStealer ! I apologize for it's delay.
"FERRET!" He cried out after being called a 'rat' for the upteenth time. He did tolerate the curious looks and murmurs about him, but he was in no way a rat. "And I don' grant wishes!" With that, he sat back on his perch of the mighty shoulder, and watched. "Thank ya' at least, fer offerin to help."
Ferdinand moved off his horse as soon as the man he found was being handled by Gwyneth. He watched her use the abilities that gave her the title of saint. He was amazed at how much he was seeing already just by heading south. Not too long ago he didn't even believe magic existed and yet here he was in the company of three women who used it. He was broken out of his thoughts when Ulrich asked him a question. "Yes, barely. All I could make out was that is was quite large and moved quite fast as well. It kept to the darkness when I found the man and ran off, whatever it is it possesses a danger to this village." His gaze wandered a bit to the small creature the peasants were calling a rat despite it yelling back it was a ferret. He smirked at the ridiculousness of the situation under his helmet.
"Got it, Seems like my current job will be night watch then, Just hope I am no- Red silenced himself as he watched a women get out of the carriage. She looked odd to him, what happened next made him even more curious she seemed to be odd. Some how the women seem to be able to heal the man and a dog. With what it was unknown to him, Likely some sort of magic or something odd. Red cared little it was not part of the current thing he had to do so he went off to do something else possibly make defenses or traps around the town since it would likely need it. Going off Red began digging small pits filled with wooden spears and sharp objects then trying to recover them with debris, Marking them each with a few branchs that would be cut so others would know, after that he would begin taking any string he had and would attempt to make a perimeter around the village, then tying them in the middle village with various tools and pots and pans to cause noise when one of the strings were either cut or possibly tripped. As he did this he was glad he wasn't the unlucky one going to be training the few villagers they had to fight.
