I don't want to press [Tab] and see who has been camping/farming kills the most. Keep it simple: Go to Profile, see total kills It the game wants to display a chart with how many in that day/week/total, then fine.
Well, are they going to have a kill point system for overall/lifetime stats? If so I would say the DAoC Herald when it existed was the best way of showing it. You could see on your server the top 25 of each class and faction along with points/week, and a search bar that worked. Your personal stats showed almost everything you wanted like keep/tower captures, kills of a certain faction, lifetime deathblows etc.
Who cares about kills? It's a campaign, a battle for an entire planet. Your overall 'player rating' should NOT be based off KDR in a strategic game. It should be based on your overall contribution to your faction, via successfully completing missions, missions posted by squad leaders, guild leaders, Strike Force Commander, War Council. You're going to have players driving vehicles carrying other players, players flying aircraft.. carrying other players to objectives. You're going to have attack objectives, defense objectives, reconnaissance in depth, relics to discover, resources to loot and give to your faction. Getting 'leet' kills will be a sideshow compared to actually contributing to your faction's victory in the campaign. I'd much rather see a "mission" type system, where squad leaders, Strike Force commanders, and War Council players can choose mission specific criteria for a certain area, and "post" those missions to a planet wide mission screen. Players can choose from a list of mission, and spawn in or pod into an area and carry out that mission. Each and every time you spawn, you are graded on whether or not you successfully carry out your chosen mission. Post mission screen would look a little something like this: 1. Mission type: Transport/Attack Mission leaders notes: "Transport troops via vehicle from FOB 121 in support of attack objectives Alpha, Bravo, or Charlie. Don't be careless with your vehicles, we are running low on transports!!" Mission time: 1 hour 15 minutes(75 points) Troops transported: 200(200 points) Troops dropped inside objective area: 35(350 points) Return to base status: successful(100 points) Total Points: 725 Mission Status: Mission success!(100 bonus points) 2. Mission: Mobile Spawn/Defense Mission Leaders notes: "We need mobile spawns deployed around Firebase Zulu in order to set up an in depth defense. Move Rhino's to the tree line North of FB Zulu and deploy those spawns in good cover and concealment. Deploy zone is marked on your map, mission success if you're spawn is deployed inside the zone for 10 minutes or longer. Good Hunting!" Mission Time: 25 minutes(25 points) Troops spawned: 58(58 points) Deployed inside mission zone: Success(100 points) Return to base status: N/A Total Points: 183 Mission Status: Mission success!(100 bonus points) 3. Mission: Objective Defense Mission Leaders notes: "Defend the south side of Village 331 from advancing Imperium forces. Set up heavy weapons or Tactical Units facing south between the barn and the cemetery marked as the Deployment Zone on your the mission map. Mark suspected enemy locations on your maps so everyone knows where to look. Spend 10 minutes inside the deployment zone then return to base for mission success, regardless of enemy kills. Spawn numbers are limited, take care of your troops! For the Chaos Gods!" Mission Time: 3 minutes(3 points) Reached deployment zone: No(0 points) Mission time in deployment zone: 0 minutes(0 points) Enemies killed while in deployment zone: 0(0 bonus points) Other Enemies killed: 2(2 points) Return to base status: KIA(o points) Total Points: 5 Mission Status: Mission Fail!(0 bonus points) With tactical missions being posted by players, each mission contributes to their factions overall progression during the campaign. As you can see from mission "3" posted above, even though the player had a KDR of 2 to 1, they decided to totally disregard mission parameters, they ran off looking for "leet killzz", their mission was a failure, and their overall score was dismal.
Sounds like a nice alternative but personally I want to have a maul named sunshine with a recording of 150 pvp kills
Good on ya, you killed 150 other players nowhere near the objective, totally oblivious to the campaign. Your base was lost and your faction was pushed from the continent. Sure, I'm being a bit of a smart ass, but I'm just trying to shed light on the fact that we're all going contributing to a strategic campaign. A campaign requiring cooperation and teamwork on a massive scale, that is if you care anything about achieving victory and the loot and accolades that follow. Kills are great, if they're on an objective, as part of your mission. Some players might prefer to simply drive players to objectives all day long. They'll get absolutely no kills. Maybe they transport 500 players and get killed in their vehicle several times... Should their overall player rating be crap because they didn't get any kills and they died several times? Even though they shuttled hundreds of players all afternoon? You cant have a player rating or leaderboard based strictly off kills in a strategic campaign.
