Keep the scorescreen. Just divide all the xp accumulated for one team, then give each player an equal share. Players that joined mid-game could just get a percentage of this reward, dependent on the total amount of time they were part of the game. If you took part in 50% of the game's total time, you get 50% of the reward compared to what the others get. By doing this thankless strategic duties are rewarded, such as guarding points, protecting that transport and so on, just as much as going on a killing spree and executing things left and right. It makes people less apt to chase xp and more eager to make the team win (for that big xp bonus). At least, that's the theory, but I think it would work out. It would also emphasize that Eternal Crusade is a team game.
I turned 20 men into swiss cheese and i have to share the loot with a git that runs around in open fields without doing shit? NOPE
While a noble concept, its not going to work imo. You have to turn the concept the other way around and see the downsides. For each good diehard team player you will have 3 nose-pickers doing fuck all to contribute to the team (doing their own thing, not defending, not listening, team killing). Thus everyone who tries their hardest to win will get their rewards dragged down because the other people on their side in a match dont really give a damn, thus you get rewarded less with no choice of your own in the matter. Cant say i wish the idea to become reality. What id rather have is that other activities get a boost in XP reward. Give more XP to people who drive vehicles, hell give more XP to people who destroy vehicles. Any time i spend most of the match being a dedicated AV guy im losing so much potential XP. Give more rewards for other actions and its going to iron itself out.
No. However, they need to fix the XP for healing, guarding points, even protecting heavies with melee if that was possible.
We shouldn't be relying on command xp alone. We also need to reward people for getting kills. I vote no.
A few suggestions coming from MWO. -Savior kill ( bonus for killing an attacker from your team mate) -Protected light/medium/heavy/assault ( just a simple bonus for sticking with your team during an actively helping in a firefight) Aggreed on the drivers xp needs to be buffed. It's one of the most relevant guys keeping tranposrts safe...and still it gets no recognition for that. Special from a pug, that might end up saying... "Omg leave the tank, you don't do shit, look at your score bottom feeder" -"lance in formation" - Sticking with your squad in groups of at least 4 players, bonus xp for coordinated effort. The only problem here, is that EC is much faster paced than MWO, and might be difficult for the game to track all that's going on.
A suggestion to make the game more tactical: implement that damn internal voip. Then imo more than xp sharing we need to encourage people to stick to the Squad Leader. For instance better icons making clear what's the banner bonus when it kicks in.
So an overwhelming no then The problem with that is that you're rewarding actions. One of the frustrating experiences with EC's teamplay is that everyone are so hungry for xp, instead of helping the team. If a point is capping, with half the team already there, the other half will rush to it not to help out but to cash in on that 400 xp bonus. Giving more xp for driving, or destroying vehicles (btw, they really need to up the xp for destroying walls in comparison to vehicles), does not do anything for the individuals that stay and defend a point while the rest just rush forward. It gives nothing to the tactical defending the heavy fireline. In short, it makes the team better, and sometimes it makes others better by providing that banner bonus, but if it doesn't help you people rarely if ever do it. Even if its what the team needs the most. And that's what you, and maybe others, miss. You say that "those that try their hardest", well, those aren't the ones that are the most rewarded currently. Those poor souls that stay and defend A and B while the rest of the team attack C, aren't getting much if any xp. Yet they're probably doing the most for the team.
