I hope the party system is very well thought out, I've seen in some games that they are really bad and with the ranking system that 40k has, it must be made well.
We gonna try to have the best one right from the start but we will plan time between Beta and Launch to tweak it that's for sure. Early Access will also be the best time for us to test the Social features as we release them one by one.
Keeping an eye on the Friends/contact list thread, good. Now we can be sure to get our opinions through, we don't want this stuffing up, in and out of game friend communication is pretty hard in some games.
I am against the by account basis. Sometimes I want to just relax and not get involved with others, or stalked. I was in a game that had this and when I would login my friend would always contact me within 30 seconds. I was annoying as hell. Make it per character. If you added the note feature, then you could allow players to have the same names as well. Think how many Jennifers you have met in the real world. Why not in a game? If you look at real world databases, you see many people matching on first names and many with both the same first and last name. It would be great.
