There are a considerable amount of people playing SM, and recently, a considerable amount of people joined the now seemingly ancient servers. I was wondering if the community would band together as founders if an Arena was released with the Founders Program, allowing Founders to test their load outs and hone their skills in the coming year as we await EC. Would it be too much to ask? Does anyone want to elaborate or expand on this idea?
I'm usually against founder privileges, but seeing how this would not directly affect non-founders in a negative manner (perhaps safe for the extra gun experience for founders), I would actually be fine with this. It might even serve as a small tech demo so we get to see how the game looks in the flesh.
I think it was already one of the early modules... no idea where to find it, to many threads about the founders program, but I remember a poll about this.
Personally don't feel it has any value for the Founders other than something 'to play with'. I prefer weapon testing/training on your Strike Cruiser and mock scenario battles. Developers will gain much more useful feedback by testing how classes would be used in actual situations that can occur on the battlefield vs. only straight up dueling.
I don't see much issue with copying a small base from the map and setting up small battles over it. You can test the guns and most gameplay mechanics and you can scale the fights up for later endurance test.
It'd be nice to get a sort of founders early access "demo" where we can fight in a small arena as a way to pass the time until EC is released, similar to that tech demo they made in two weeks though perhaps a bit more polished up. Either that, or just a firing range on the strike cruiser we can mess around on.
Some games, like SWTOR have a "collector's edition" or "founders" sitting lounge in game so people can sit around like prudes and pretend their better than everyone else because they have their own special little area to themselves. Thing is, all it serves as to do is annoy and frustrate all players who are not part of the "special club" and make them feel ripped off and denied content to a game they paid money for, but couldn't afford that "something extra"; areas of a game shouldn't be locked off from players regardless if they are a founder or not. I'll tell you one thing, "founders" who get "special VIP areas" never actually use them, nor do they go to them at all usually. All they do is represent an ever present "ha ha" slap in the face of other paying customers.
Maybe I'm wrong but I see it like the dodfight module in SC, some kind of small scale test while we wait for alpha/beta, not a special lounge for founders at release.
No one suggested a special area exclusively for founders once the game goes live. Just some sort of demo for people who want to pre-order and get the ability to play a small-scale version of EC while they wait.
I support the Idea if it only will be for Founders at Alpha an Beta for test, then when the game launchs everyone should use it, i dont Want Priviliges for being a Founder, i only want To have the Game like anyone else. So if you understand my naughty English, the Arena should be for people who pre-order the game and want to kill the time while we are here waiting.
