Sorry, should of been clear, was going off the 100+ liked posts on the youtube video itself and countless comments having a whinge about it. Read through the comments on youtube. I said I liked it, very clearly, although I did find the team speak OK if a little forced. It didn't sound natural and the whole thing was scripted so I am actually a bit confused as to what your saying >_<. You think that the assault marine magically coming in to counter the havoc was not scripted? Plzzz.
I have to say; that forced, borderline cringeworthy(if not) voicechat killed this video for me. The Alpha itself looks alrightish, you can see alot of the stuff is still placeholder. PS: I still hope they don't make the Lascannon OHK infantry. I'll actually quote a friend word to word. His forum post on our Consortium Community forum concerning this video: "Even though I'm a giant Wh40k fan and REALLY want Eternal Crusade to do well, I'm not the kind of fan that will pretend everything the devs do is perfect. DAMN that was bad… It being in alpha doesn't excuse making an action-style trailer showing staged gameplay (not necessarily a bad thing) with this kind of cringe-inducing garbage voice-work from devs using headset mics. I'm all for Wh40k inspired over-the-top voices if you have people that can pull it off, just do it properly with some enthusiasm and skip this tacticool drivel. Oh and the Word Bearers have pansy voices with silly (not even the funny kind) accents now? Really? If you want a Chaos Space Marine voice at least have the decency to take lessons from Dawn of War, this is what they sounded like back in the first one, that came out in 2004..." A bit Harsh? Maybe. But it's still someone's take on the video and I don't disagree with him all that much.
I didn't say it was not scripted. When I said "scripted like Unity and Battlefield", I meant the way they tried to make it look like a movie, no voice, heavy editing. In this case, bE actually made it looks like it's still a game. Lol, Youtube comments? People whine about pretty much everything on Youtube.
It will One hit kill even Terminators, better learn to live with it now, buddy. And most here would agree with me on this.
It is going to be anti-vehicular though. It can turn a space marine into ashes, but when the reload and fire-rate is very slow, you really want to focus on tanks with the thing.
I thought it looked cool for the most part and is a good indication for where the game is at and where it's heading. I think EVOLVE style gameplay videos with voice chat would work well for this game to show off the style of team play offered, but likewise I get that some people want cinematic lore appropriate promotional videos. There was a lot of cringe worthy bits (the accents and low quality voice recordings didn't help), a lot of the animations still look off and it generally shows the game is in an early state. But nevertheless I think things are looking good and I'm excited for what the future holds for the game. I'm eager to see where the game ends up being early next year after we start seeing some changes based on feedback from the fans who actually get to play the game.
Can't wait for devs to roleplay as Orks when they get added And honestly, we know it's just devs messing around so Im not sure what's the whining about. If those were professional voice actors I would be worried, but they're not.
