A. Does any part of the territory become skinned to the faction? I.e Orkified, tainted, purified, ect. B. How do players "leave their mark" on the world saying, "yeah, we did that.",? C. Is there any ideas of forging a planetary empire for the faction if the ultimate goal is to take the planet? Does anyone have info or ideas on this?
Well we had this discussion very long ago, i think i recall even making a thread on it. Basically all races should bring about their features to the lands they take. This perhaps can be best shown by Chaos, where the ground claimed in its name starts to change texture to a hellish nightmare, and outposts it captures turning into horror houses with walls having mouths with teeth screaming in rage, blood and puss covering the walls, sacrifices littered about. But those would be temporary cosmetic updates to your lands, the primary lands of each race (the place from which a race always starts its campaign) should always bear their looks and aesthetics. The starting zone of Chaos should always look like you are striding the Chaos Wastes themselves, the Orks zone should be filled with crude spiked walls, banners and pillboxes plus junk and scrap abound. Eldar dont really leave much of an impact on places they venture to so i dunno about them. The Imperials would have barricades and perhaps some flags around with perhaps a statue or two somewhere.
Well, it would be neat to see territory owned by Tyranids look like a... hive, of sorts. Slimy, with webs everywhere and such.
Another question would be when and how quickly these appearances take place. Will some chaos space marine stop fighting for a sec and go back to recently conquered space and... do heresy in there? It would feel weird if eldar capture some base and then start decorating it with nice runes and such before heading off to conquer the space marine place so that they can tear down all the pictures of the emperor hanging from the walls.
Can you imagine it? A squad of marines barge into Eldar territory, expecting a huge firefight but all they find is some guardians setting up the pottery and planting seeds. XD
I'd love to see dynamic world changes based on occupation but it is a lot of work. Unless we're just going for full texture switches which may be fine but they still have to have matrix overlays for the entire campaign map for each of the occupation areas with say 5 different styles.
Would be nice to see the change. Donno how they gonna do the patch cycles, maybe EVE style constant downtime everyday ? It would allow easy terrain change rolls and it wouldnt change again untill next downtime. Allso easy to drop in new small patches since you have a chance to reboot server everyday without it being "OMFG SO ANNOYING". Afterall the big world conquest and domination is going to be the big thing in this game for many.
