I don't really care either way as both are pretty workable. If anything though, they always struck more along the lines of pretty caucasian, but also with a somewhat less exaggerated form of that alien stuff, like the big and somewhat slanted eyes and thin cheeks so like something in between. I guess I'll give my vote to that. As long as they can't be fat or some other silly non-canon stuff *looks angrily at C.S.Goto*.

I'm going for Alien, I remember in the Grey Knights series a Dark Eldar Mandrake had "disguised" itself as a captured Striking Scorpion and Alaric (even being a Grey Knight) was very unsettled when it attempted to emulate human emotions. So i'm going for the "Something just isn't right with this" option. Human and Alien. It's sort of eluded to in Rogue Trader and other RP games that Eldar could blend in to a busy human port or city or what have you. That said, they should definitely maintain some degree of alien.. ness..
How could that even be possible with the mandrakes new appearance (and psychology) in the last Dark Eldar codex and Andy Chambers' novels? Also, 'not sure I understand you on this: are you going for (2) the "disturbing alien appearance" or (3) something in between human and alien?
I suppose that was before the new Codex, when Mandrakes were just pale freaks with an immense SM fetish. They would still look immensely disturbing to the Craftsworlders "slightly disturbing".
I was definitely going for 3!! Sorry for not being clearer, yeah their appearance is a little strange, I guess the inspiration came from what Fireeye described, though it was sort of eluded to that it was some kind of "Magic" that allowed him to change appearance, although I could be completely wrong about that.
I see... like in Soulstorm for example? They are much better now imo, without this "immense SM fetish" in their look and behavior
Eh, I would argue that an S&M fetish fits the DE aesthetic better than an Illidan ripoff. Mostly I just hate that last part and can't take the new mandrakes seriously.
