So isn't about time we tackled this idea? All 3 factions have a loadout with this kind of mechanic - zap upon charge. Shouldn't Eldar get Ranger class? Same mechanic as for lascannons but perhaps only on infrantry and no dmg to vehicles and fortress. To give them stealth cloak or not is up for debate I suppose depending on balancing.
No? Especially when you have the stalker mod bolter to compare the ranger rifle against? And the bright lance to compare against the lascannon?
Equivalent for Lascannon is Brightlance, not ranger rifle. Lascannon is not supposed to shoot infantry. And personaly i don't want to see sniper rifle with charge mechanic. This is the worst mechanic that you can have for sniper rifle, especialy if you can't hold charge as long as you need.
Rangers are not the Eldar equivalent to lascannons. They are long range infiltration and anti infantry.
We don't need equivalents in every faction to what the other have. The portability of the Brightlance is managed by the Eldar with the use of grav platforms. We don't have them in game, and probably won't have ever as the Guardians won't be implemented. Vehicle/Wraithlord weapon only. Let's just get something different.
See, and I wanted Rangers instead of Banshees, as we have enough melee oriented classes, and since Scorps are cooler than the shee's it's obvious they should go in favor of Rangers
The issue with Eldar is there weapons are class based, it's not just a simple matter of adding a new gun you have to design a new model and everything it entails to add a new class. To limited knowledge of Eldar the Lascannon equivalent would seem to be more the Shadow Specter kit, which sounds like a balancing nightmare if you ask me due the other mechanics of the class, such as Jetpacks on an anti tank unit. Also, if you recall the goal was Asymmetric balance, by definition we don't need a Lascannon equivalent.
Oh, c'mon! A Fire Dragon is the guy that runs half battlefield, melts the rhino, goes upstairs, knife-fights the power-fist marine, sticks a grenade in the shield-bro, lights a cigar and deactivates the base cap while all explodes behind him. Can rangers do it while wearing bright orange armor? Can they? They're not cool enought (or hot, maybe).
