Eldar melee prior the change was not OP, heck I don't think anyone has claimed Eldar melee was ever OP, and unless you know something that the rest of the community doesn't there have been no complaints about Eldar melee OP with the exception of Scorpion stealth strike, and even then that was pretty mild compared to SM/CSM melee power fists. They are also by no means that great in melee outside of stealth, anyone who thinks otherwise I would love to see their video showing otherwise and I will eat my words. Eldar speed which i believe was 10% more, does not give you any melee advantage, the dev's specifically didn't want the speed to disrupt others ability to melee you and it doesn't. You can't strike and run out of range of retaliation. Charge strike will move you further than eldar sprint. I don't believe you have any real success in Eldar melee as it doesn't sound like it, but again, show me video of someone currently doing amazing melee fighting as Eldar and I will recant.
My clan MYST does really well when we play, but that doesn't mean Eldar are OP by any stretch, just in this case means we are overcompensating with tactics. Harkus offers a different insight to all factions, which is it needs a lot of pure assault power (dps and survivability) as there are only limited ways to enter and you have to be able to kill to push through the choke points and live long enough to make the kills matter. There also isn't many points, which have to be taken in order, so this map really tests any factions ability to take and hold. Right, that's your impression but I've not really seen anything in the forums or my own clan that back up that impression. Actual stats and TTK for weapons has been shown and it shows that weapons like Shuriken vs Bolters are fairly balanced, even though TTK favors Bolters in most cases. I'm not complaining about our melee damage, and I don't think it's great, but I do think the dodge mechanic change has definitely affected our ability to melee. I can see it fairly strongly, as have others in clan as well on this board. Prior to the change I could have a good melee fight that required me to dodge a lot, and I stoof a fair chance of winning given a bit of time to fight. Isn't that what they wanted? Because right now it feels like melee is just a high risk of death if any kind of duel / 1v1 occurs.
*Bump* Can you please give Eldar their dodge roll back ? It was one of the things that actually made Eldar FEEL like a fast, mobile, agile faction. With the latest nerf to dodge roll, diving out of the way is just a death sentence. It's safer to just strafe A-D or run away instead of dodging. It's lame. Seeing a bunch of Eldar trying to win clang wars with knives is also lame. Eldar should be dodging around hoping that our enemies will be wittled down by our allies not hopelessly D-bashing our enemies and trying to clang while standing toe to toe with them. Seeing a room full of Eldar's legs flying in the air should be a thing. Seeing Space Marines with shields rolling around like tumble weeds should not be a thing. Space Marines and Orks should be the factions standing there flat footed trying to pound their enemies into submission. Eldar should be the faction flipping, rolling and maneuvering behind their enemies to slowly cut them down piece by piece. Please give Eldar back the dodge roll.
I can accept maneuver and speed buff if only Eldar will die faster. Higher mobility fewer health/armor.
Can we see some video examples of the aforementioned problem? The difficulty in trying to hit Eldar with melee weapons playing as Orks and Astartes, I honestly have no idea what you guys are describing. Eldar already dodge, climb, roll, vault faster than Orks and Astartes and the resulting advantage versus Ork and Astartes melee classes is substantial.
I am not a fan of the I-frames. But Eldar and Orks have no I-frame when they roll / dodge. currenty as an Eldar or ork you just get stunned back into possition of where you started your roll. basically just trowing away stamina for, well... nothing. Astartes still have I-frames, specialy the Jump assault. this allows them to finish their roll and avoid some melee, nades and cover some distance even when a melee hit should have conected.
I don't think Astartes still have Iframes. In fact I posted a couple weeks ago about this very topic. On my Astartes character I die a lot mid roll, getting "rubber banded" back to where I started the roll when I get downed. I could be mistaken, though I'm pretty certain it's the same for Astartes.
All ground rolls have little/no i-frames. Hops and jump-pack boosts still have iFrames I think, the latter definitely. Probably a bug but who knows
If we are removing rolling iframes(which I hope we do not) we need a new animation. Getting killed mid roll looks awful damned cheesy and very cheap because you instantly revert to down on all fours instead of dropping dead as you're rolling, in the direction you were rolling. You teleport backwards to where you started the roll and you're downed at that location. Looks and feels very cheap. I'd go so far as to say we need a transitional animation for running and sprinting as well. It just looks and feels really cheap when we are sprinting one second, then a millisecond later all molecular motion has ceased and we're down on all fours. What happened to all that inertia that was propelling us forwards? If we are downed while running or sprinting, shouldn't we fall forwards and land like a sack of @#$t, then get up on all fours?
