Don't get me wrong, I would love to see them as much as other Corsair fans, I just think you can't have a Corsair "Class" as such, they are a sub-faction with a little more than a unique way of doing things. You have to remember Corsairs (thanks to forgeworld) have their own collection of "classes" or unique units.
Although they are corsairs I don't see them working for factions like the space marines, the chaos space marines and the orks because all three of them would turn their arms against their "allies" as soon as possible for... well, being sneaky eldar - something from which the latters are well aware of. One reasonable way to implement them IMO is to make them accessible to the eldar factions - craftworlds and Commoragh - as cheap or free temporary classes (except for the corsair prince, who as a hero would be an expensive one) whenever it controls some particular outpost (perhaps some kind of archeotechnology excavation, one on each continent?). But once the said outpost lost these classes would no longer be available to the faction on that continent (those who still control them can continue the fight, but once dead they would no longer be able to respawn as such). The other factions on the other hand could get along with the same system, but with others types of units (freebooterz (orks) and rogue traders (Imperium, Chaos) for example).
Well, I was referring to the rogue traders themselves and their own private little army/armed escort.
as a faction? interesting idea.... hmm... i dont know if it would work in a game where there is literally only way, but still... it does work as an eldar corsair equivalent though, but how to separate it from imperial guard/mechanicus/psyker shtuff...
Isha no, not as a whole faction! Did you even read my previous post (the long one) entirely? xD The idea is to implement them as a bunch of classes - rogue traders would be heroes while their followers could be picked for free or almost nothing - available as long as the faction (Imperium, Chaos or even Tau; orks would have freebooterz and eldar/dark eldar corsairs instead) controls a specific and unique outpost on the whole continent - so I proposed an excavation of some archeotechnology stuff, the kind of thing that might catch the attention of these people -, and once the said outpost lost the faction will no longer have access to the rogue traders' retinue/freebooterz/corsairs classes in the concerned continent until it takes the place again.
why not just make them as a path you can go down, as in tech tree path. with perks, more grenades and ammo, speed in generally but with lighter amour (AV tinfoil), and some fancy robes. have the tech trees as each path that the Eldar have, then another for the Corsair line?
Breaking fluff aside they're still separate from Craftworld Eldar. I absolutely would not mind seeing them in game, but I feel like they should be more of a "sub-faction". There's a reason they work WITH Craftworlds but do not join them permanently. They have their own agenda and are driven by different motives than us Craftworlders. I feel like if they weren't that kind of unique i'd be more disappointed than if they were included rashly. Just my opinion though.
