Does AP ammo make a difference?

Reading other poster I must be the only one who uses CQC and AP rounds.

    It is brutal btw.

I always use the CQC barrel, but having tried AP magazine (30 rounds) instead of the Drum magazine (60 rounds) the drum mag wins out.

This is my general reasoning when it comes to close quarters firefights, regardless of magazine used...
    • if you're frequently finding yourself alone, one on one, then either you or your team mates are probably in the wrong place
    • in unavoidable one on one situations force your opponent to move; use your surroundings as cover, use a grenade, make him move when he'd rather be attacking
    • in situations when there is more than one opponent you don't want to be caught running dry or reloading; this give your opponents time to think, get assistance or keep attacking unopposed
    • initiative is usually with the player who catches his opponent out and has maximum uptime on his damage
    • when iron sight (scopeless or scope turned off, but zoomed) head shots are a reliable option, always take them
My specific reasoning in favour of the Drum magazine...
    • maximum uptime; I'm less likely to be running dry mid fight
    • I always expect to be dealing with two or more opponents
    • no matter how good I am at headshots, some shots will miss for numerous reasons
    • it's 20LP cheaper than the AP mag and may allow more flexibility to be added to a build
My specific reasoning in favour of the AP magazine...
    • if I'm on a character that hasn't unlocked the Drum magazine yet
    • if I want to snipe but haven't unlocked another more suitable weapon
TL;DR: 60 rounds and 30LP is better, in my opinion, than 30 rounds and 50LP. Your mileage may vary.
