I wouldn't describe CoH as colorful. It has an art style that has depth. What is shown is the Blizzard Flatt N Matte All a MOBA is is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. You need not just one unit for it to be a moba, just for each fight to be in a set arena. However from your vitriol I can see that you will not see anything other than what you want to. I don't like defending a game fervently forever. I just have never had such zealotry.
since yesterday you me and all most every 40k fan that i talked to sound very excited and out of breath
I think you huys are thinking of a castle wars game. This is another game made via warcraft 3 multiplayer modding like DoTA was. In it you had preset lanes that units would run down after spawning from buildings you created. Each faction had about 15 different buildings with vastly different spawn times, stat values, and attack animation patterns or skills. Generally each faction would have a theme such as demons had chaos dmg and normal armor, high elves had pierce dmg and light armor, etc. Winning came down to building units that would counter the other guys units like player A makes a single target high dmg giant so you counter with a building that makes lots of little guys really fast to overwhelm slow him down for range units to pick off... You know what I doubt anyone cares about this so I'm just gonna stop now.
Agreed. It seems that usually when an artist wants to add detail to Eldar armour they add subtle runes and whorls, but playing to the organic 'grown' aspect of the wraithbone makes for a novel and interesting artistic choice. They may have gone a little far with the roughness and the organic appearance, making some of the armour pieces look more like they had been pried from a Tyrannid corpse, but overall I liked it (especially the wraith knight)... and I'm not easily pleased.
I do think they went a bit too far with it and took the whole "bone" thing too seriously. But on the other hand, Eldar armour generally just looks like plastic and this gives them a very distinctive look. I wonder if they'll use this art style for the game or if it's just a one time thing for the trailer. Somehow I doubt we'll see those stilt legged marines again. But then again, this probably had Geedubz's approval so who knows?(Which raises the question of why they whine about Altansar not sounding Eldary enough in EC but think Marines with anime legs are okay)
Unfortunately it looks like the HR Giger bone armour is trailer only. There's a few screenshots kicking about and if they are anything to judge by the Eldar look to be the standard glossy plastic in-game... which is a shame.
The Eldar look far from finished though and the wraithbone would be mostly texture work since the models are so small. There's still hope for it, I think.
If they add chaolater there could be some awesome stuff. I mean if SM are getting imperial knights (which seems odd now that I think about it) maybe chaos will get deamon units or some kickass warp tainted machines. Seriously though now that I think about it, why are SM rolling around with knights? Is that something the 40k lore supports? I always thoughts knights and titans were owned by specific mechanicus and imperial households dedicated to them. Maybe we are seeing the first instance of mechanicus being added to the dow series.
