Ok, so far it apears that there are 2 likely senarios if alliances occur, 1. Chaos and orks team up and horde everyone and then kill each other (unknown winner) 2. Spacemarines using there clearly higher numbers storm all factions without allies What are your thoughts?
I think that there will never be any alliance. That is my thought. If you ever played PS2, you would know that the best kind of "alliance" you can ever hope for is something like this: The big clans from faction 1 & 2 agree not to attack each other while both sides attack faction 3 from their side. Most clans and clan-less players (why you would play a game like this without a clan is beyond me) will ignore any agreement and continue attacking your "temp allies". Not killing everything you see gets boring after a while and the lone wolves that don't listen/care about "the agreement" will make the ones that do, stop. These kinds of things are temporary and limited at best. -Edited by Houman-
At the end, there can be only one winner of the campaign. So expect even if allied with someone on one front to be backstabbed in 50 others.
My understanding was that the devs were trying to get away from "one winner" and towards "There are multiple objectives you could get, so the winners and losers may not be so clear".
You are correct, each faction will have its own objectives of sorts. I was more referring to the whole buddy buddy nature of the alliance. Your ally will help you on one front but wont have a second thought if he can mess you up on 10 other fronts for his own factions gain. But in the end there indeed needs to be a single winner, recall that we swap continents when one faction wins over the current one, so even if the factions fulfill some of these personal objectives only one faction can take the land for themselves at the end of the campaign. At least thats the logical way to go about it.
The only alliances you wil have is the sm not shooting the eldar becouse he is the only 1 standing between him and 20+ orks. (different variations are possible) yes it might happen on a bigger scale but like the people above me postet you will always have people breaking it.
True so, at this point, unless the orks are a lot more f2p players than i believe, the sm are going to be dominate just because most people are going to side as sm
Funny that you would say that. I'm not a fan of any of the SM chapters present in the game. I know that this game is clearly going to be made for the dire hard fans, but there will be a flood of new comers that may never have even heard about SM's. Who they choose to play is anyone's guess. I find that prospect exciting. After all, the mere character of each faction will probably draw them to play it. Its the same draw of most MMORPG's... and I can testify that I chose my characters based on their lore and what they represented... or at least what I wanted them to. After playing DOW Retribution, the campaign has a very blunt synopsis of each faction's "character", and I was surprised that I found the SM's one of the least appealing considering I liked the Blood Ravens.
