Plain and simple, are there any recommended counters to the auto cannon as SM And any easy counters to the Melee mayhem, i really feel this game is not balanced at the moment Videos are appreciated
Autocannon- like all heavy weapons with a brace option, flank them. There's no vantage point in the game with only one approach. All the shooter heavy weapons have a spool up time, use cover to force them to stop shooting and then come back out in the lull. Also the stalker mod for the boltgun makes it really great at range for taking them out. If you face a heavy weapon while they're braced against you, you're going to lose. Melee- d-bash and run in groups? Don't get close? Roll behind them and force them to turn? I mean, if you're in melee range, their designated range, you should expect them to have the advantage.
Along with Fox, for the Auto or heavy bolter/plasma even, flanking and engaging in melee. Yes even as a tactical, you do have a knife and pistol that are effective enough. As another heavy, you can use teamwork or if that's not getting it done, wait for them to redirect their fire so you can attack them. As to melee, this is a general thing, but if you are a melee fighter, remember to use your pistol (I don't use the smart one, so I guess I hit harder though) it may not kill them, but it will give you the advantage if you get to melee. As a tac, knowing when to hit and when to run, if you keep track of their fuel consumption you can find yourself at an advantage when they're no longer able to fly. All of these are situational though, I tend to use bolters, power sword, lascannons, so I'm somewhat simple in my picks. Plasma gun could be a better solution to the raptor, using the stalker to pin down autocannons probably works too. It's not always about killing, it helps, but if you keep someone occupied, that'll work just as well.
I love these notes, you hit the topic right on the nose. Like whitefox said, heavy weapons require windup and focusing targets. with multiple partners you can force a heavy weapon user to fire pot shots at you long enough for guy #2 and guy #3 to land some solid shots. Then they will get focused and you have an opportunity to land some blows. Heavy weapons are meant to hold ground or suppress but they are weak at reacting to multiple angles of attack. This not only goes for Havoks but tanks and vehicles as well. Sometimes just keeping a powerful weapon busy is worth it. Ill often fire bolter rounds into tanks just to annoy them and distract the vehicle so it spends less time killing off my brothers. Raptors are tough to defeat. Melee users can outplay just about anyone else, especially if they know what they are doing. The only hard counter to raptors is teamwork. If you have a 4-5 man warparty coordinating that raptor can only focus 1-2 of you at a time. Dont try to be a hero, keep that raptor busy while it targets you and let your allies do the rest. After the time hes spent trying to get past your dbashes and dodge rolls its likely your allies have put enough bullets in his skull to drop him. The hard part about raptors is they are tanky and they can get in, kill just as efficiently and get out. In my personal opinion Havoks and Raptors will defeat any other class at what they do best. Dont try to outgun a Havok and dont try to out melee a raptor. In the event that your facing an equal number of these classes as you have allies, you probably want to consider a new way of attack. Facing multiple havoks on a hill or multiple raptors in melee is a nightmare.
If you know a Havoc is set up somewhere but you can't get close without getting shredded, try and attack at range from outside their line of sight. Something like a couple rounds to the head from a Stalker modded Bolter or a charged Plasma Cannon round will either kill them or force them to rethink their position. If you can't kill them, forcing them to move and lose their position is the next best thing IMO. If you're running any class that's not a Devastator, I'd advise taking the Plasma Pistol if you can. It's got a high penetration value, so it ignores toughness. If you can switch to it and get some shots off, you can make a Raptor think twice about attacking or at least make him jump and waste fuel. Failing that, stick close to other players and keep your head about you.
Something to also consider is taking krak instead of frag, I personally use krak b/c I find them more effective as general grenades (crazy, I know, hear me out). Provided you're decent at throwing nades directly at people and sticking them, it is a sure fire way to eliminate that pesky target that won't die. It is also good if you have a Joker level of timing, throw nade ahead, have enemy chase you, run over nade, bam, dead if he didn't notice the blinking blue light or distracted and maybe off balance if he did and tried to avoid it. Has the benefit of hurting vehicles, always laugh at those weirdos throwing frags at rhinos, it doesn't work my good friend! Does more damage than a frag, which makes it an effective against tougher enemies, unless the frags have penetration as well? Now this isn't directly for fighting either havocs or raptors, I bring it up b/c I frequently kill them this way since it's unexpected, what kinda weirdo marine stops shooting at you, the raptor chasing him and proceeds to throw a krak, of all nades, and stick them, it's nonsensical and is not supported by the codex, but it does work. With havocs it works out b/c they're typically standing still and if you miss them, provided it's nearby, it'll force them to move to avoid it creating a window for you. Be creative, you get one, may as well make it count.
Just felt i'd point out real quick: No one, or very few, people use the MoN jetpack due to it's fuel penalty. Most of the Raptors comes from the I-frames on it's dodges and the frequency they occur. Most people will take Mark of Tzeentch with raptor instead because the focus fire penalty is negligible, a raptor standing still long enough for focus fire to matter was going to die anyway. So what you actually want is combi-bolters/heavy bolters to deal with raptors in this current patch, because every time you ping them it resets their armor counter to zero. If the MoT raptor gets any time, absolutely ANY time to take a breather the armor will regen, which is already a huge problem because the defensive bash you need to stop his attacks will most likely be slow enough to trigger the armor regen anyway.
I'm also going to second the Plasma Cannon as an effective heavy counter against other heavies. You wait for them to brace, then fire off a shot. At the very least you'll keep them moving because if they slow down to fire back at you they're going to die. I don't see many P-Cannons anymore and it's still a very potent weapon, though not as good against Tacticals anymore and good luck hitting a jumper with it...
