Ehh, it really depends on how long it takes to kill a player and how powerful the devs choose to make the ranged and melee combat. You're just assuming it's going to be a carbon copy of Space Marine which is a bit hasty, man.

Space marine is the inspiration but I'm sure they'll add a lot to the systems in that concept
  2. Unless they have an MMORPG TTK... It won't matter. In fact, when you bring all the weapons to bear... Lascannons, Plasma Cannons, Plasma Rifle, Melta guns... It won't matter... Everyone in the squad shoot THAT guy<dead>, now that guy<dead>, that guy<dead>, Unless Melee can kill quickly and move to cover or evade... He's dead.

Well, You can take a look at the pre-alpha EC gameplay video, it looks a lot like SM so far. I know it's pre- alpha but still the direct inspiration is clearly visible.

  4. The multiplayer combat from god of war ascension would fit perfectly without the arial combos where you have fast attacks that can be blocked and heavy attack that break your block and stun you for a slight moment and a kick to disrupt/knockback (can also be blocked) that stuns you if knocked back agianst a wall

Yep, I don't know why THIS is so hard to grasp by some people here.

  6. True , if there is only open fields . Inside buildings or narrow streets in citys melee players can charge and hack in to range players easily killing them its all about terran and tactics to get the overhand in presented situation

As far as I know the devs said ther'd be rather big facilities than cities but that may change. Still, assaulters may have problems flying in tight spaces and You'll have 'easy killing' on one condition: FAST and POWERFUL melee...and we're back again.
  8. Open world. Have you played Planetside 2? There's plenty of places to hide and cover... the bases have tight quarters... problem=zerg tactics. The area where fighting starts get instantly saturated by everyone looking for the easy pickings of a fight. Then the AoE happens.. everyone in the open or caught running to cover = dead and anyone known to be in cover=dead. The high TTK will help a little but have you ever been in a 300+ person battle in an MMO? It's die..medic..die..medic...oh we're all dead respawn at the hub and hit somewhere else. Ranged weapons are going to rule the battle. Why? Because you got tons of players that have been playing shooters for decadeds now that make twitch headshots like they're nothing.. whole teams of em... I'm in such a group.

Melee classes will not have a place in the game unless they can 1-2 shot people. Teamwork from hard core shooter players ensures this. The dynamics of twitch shooters also sets this in stone. The Dev team says that accuracy is reduced in some aspects. we'll have to wait and see how that pans out but that just means nobody will fire auto.. it'll be single shots all the way. That's how we play anyway. To live in battles of the size you're going to see you're going to have to be able to jump from cover..kill.. return to cover in the span of onethousand-one-onethousand.
  9. I agree with you. Melee classes will have to be able to 1-2 shot people. Or if not, the speed of the attacks should be very fast. Presumable weapons will vary from one end of the scale to another although I hope that they differ from each other in more ways than just that.

I don't think we need to kill people in 1 or 2 hits unless we have a really slow weapon, kind of thunder hammer or power fist, have you guys tried to shoot someone at melee range hitting you and dancing around you? it's no that easy, for me the problem is to close the gap, once we are at melee range we are good IMO. Anyway this is not a major problem, once the devs have a couple hundred of people killing each other in beta they can tweak movement speed and/or melee damage.
