I've seen this idea around plenty, but I tried to find a specific thread about it and couldn't come up with one. Maybe I just used the wrong keywords, but that's besides the point. We as a community complain a lot. We complain about mechanics, development rate, balance and dozens of other things. We want this game to be the best it can be and that's why we complain so much. There are plenty of us that claim they can do a better job. That they can model or animate something better and I've no doubt some of us can make professional quality assets or animations that could fit into this game. One of the top things said as to why there are delays is that things are being outsourced, or that animations don't exist for such and such thing. The community can help generate content and it wants to get things moving. So I want to ask @Oveur , what do you need from the community to make this a thing? Signing a legal document that says the creator relinquishes the rights to their work? We know things need to be vetted by GW, but you could give us a reason why we aren't allowed to donate content made by the community right now. I also made this thread in case anyone had any files or pictures of models they wanted to dump here that they made. Let's give them something to show we mean business. TL;DR What's stopping the community from submitting content for the game to you? Post any content you have you'd like to donate to the devs.
This conversation has actually been had a few times I think. I don't think any developer that's been tagged has commented on it.
It's been had, but like I said I couldn't find a propper thread on it. Again, may have just chosen bad keywords. And if they don't reply then at least anyone who has any assets can still dump them here. Hopefully a dev will respond.
They talked about it on stream once. The official answer is they want to do it, but they have to deal with GW
That's what I expected, but I don't know why. That's part of the point of this thread, to tell us why exactly GW is the blocker in this situation if that is the real reason. If it's using assets made by the community those assets are going to be vetted by the devs and then if it passes dev inspection it'd have to pass GW and their inspection like the dev's outsourced work anyway. This is just cheaper because the community is volunteering their work rather than charging for it.
