Normally choosing gender in a 40K game would be a moot point. Space Marines (both Chaos and Original) are only male and Orks have no gender, but in the case of Eldar, you can find both genders all over the army. Sure, Eldar models are predominantly male, with exception to Banshees and some Guardians, but fluff-wise women are accepted in all Aspect warrior temples, Seer path and Guardian ranks. So do you think this will be choice, or should it even be a choice? I think it might needlessly complicate and extend the length of time to develop the Eldar race, but it would be cool for customization and to a certain degree acknowledging the small female community of 40K players. Besides, female Eldar might already be developed as NPCs, so if they already go through that trouble, adjusting them to playable characters might not be a strectch.
When i doubt we ask the lore, if the lore supports both ways strongly then we flip a coin or do a poll, or its up to the devs. Personally the more options the better.
The Developers said no Gender for any race, except Eldar. They would apply gender-specific characters where it belongs to lore. (E.G. if IG comes in there could be also gender-mix) EDIT: no gender in the meaning of you cannot choose. As Eldar you can choose between Male & Female
Makes sense, I don't think it really matters gameplay wise but the option is nice. I am playing Eldar any ways so at least we have the battle cry "Ya but we have BOOBIES." after they win.
Just out of curiosity... I know this is highly unlikely for various reasons, but: What if the gender of your Eldar charakter would not be chosen but assigned randomly (as far as a computer can be random)? It just entered my mind and I think it's a rather hilarious idea... Maybe I'll roll a dice for everything when creating my future characters
What about chaos psykers ? Can't they be female ? Sure psykers are rare to begin with but possible still. Maybe even inquisitors if they are added as a hero class even though it's unlikely.
