Unless you delve into the Black Library novels or Black Crusade (the FFG rpg), there aren't any psychic powers specific to Chaos that aren't also attributed to one of the gods in particular. Do you guys think Sorcerers are going to just have generic psychic abilities until the God-specific goodies get added post-launch? And are there any psychic powers that you think ought to be included in EC (and that you think will work in this kind of game)?
There are plenty of powers both undivided and god specific http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Chaos_Psychic_Powers#.U1f-NqJ8TQU
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Chaos_Psychic_Powers#.U1f-5FeS5OI You have the undivided section on the Lexi, also while god dedication might not be in at launch that shouldnt exclude the god spells. We already know that god marks will be preset at launch, so god specific things arent completely unexistent at launch, it will only be expanded post launch. Check my info thread where i posted their current plans for the Sorcs, which indeed envelop god dedicated spells as means of balancing: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/the-sorcerer-information-thread.4955/ EDIT: Damnit Galen, quit stealing my thunder!
Thanks for the forum link. That's good information. Do you suppose it means that there will be god-specific psychic powers at launch? That's how I'm interpreting it, but given how they've said that the god-factions haven't joined the fray yet, it might be weird to have Nurgle sorcerers running around but no plague marines. The problem with the Lexicanum links is that in 6th edition the Undivided chaos powers got folded either into the god-specific powers or the generic ones available to all armies in the core rulebook. Warptime is now generic (and under another name), the name Doombolt was swapped onto Bolt of Change... Given how fierce GW is at protection their product, will the devs be given free reign to draw powers from outdated or alternate sources?
Yes i do indeed believe they will be present at launch, Brent even said that it would be dull to stay with the generic ones when theres so many god specific ones to be made. Plus David confirmed God Marks like i said so some dedication will be there, that being said a Sorcerer of the Undivided doesent know only to cast a Doombolt, or he would be one crappy spellcaster so i think they probably are able to channel the lesser powers of the specific gods. As for the free reign, DoW was allowed allot stupider things (midget marines being one, millions of deaths and so on and so forth) so i dont think they will yank their chain over this. While they are chained to some rules a game needs to invent its own things. Heck if you recall both the Nurgle and Undivided spells available to the units in the Mark of Chaos RTS werent actually all existent spells in Fantasy (heck i havent played in awhile, perhaps none of them are even existent in the universe).
