And what if he has a"sprint/dash" ability will that make him able to fly over the walls ?Or will he be able to stop all of your attempts to kill him? Yes i talk about the JP because it appears to be the reason why most people voted yes in this thread, and if the point its't about the ability to negate parts of the defence what is then?
ok so we give a skill for climb wall to all class ok? it's not fast as the JP but all class can climb. so we can give to all the others class a slow version of the capture tool of the tactical.
... I think that you misunderstood what i wanted to say. Even if an assault marine gets a sprint when he is not using the JP that doesnt make him able to negate the walls(fly over them like when he has his JP) also just because he has this sprint ability he will not be invincible to your weapons.
are you serius??? the sprint ability is exactly to reduce/ignore the damage recived!!! "So when we're looking at ways to make it so melee classes can close the gap, we're not trying to come up with equally valid mechanics in all cases. There will be a loadout spec that promotes charging, for example that reduces damage from the front while sprinting. This means you'll be able to charge your ranged opponent and survive in the right situations with standard game mechanics. Howling Banshees have something like this as a base that's an abstraction of the fact that they're naturally so fast that they can avoid damage "
Grig SHHH your trying to explain using facts!!! People here on this thread believe those are heresy, there has already been enough proof for that
So far its 'reduced" damage not ignored and you still have to walk through the same shit as a tactical with almost no ranged abilitys .Also it only from the front so it is situational at best. Your nickname sounds true with every post you make , keep it up.
THIS absolutely deserves it's own thread because lets face it: This thread has been largely fleshed out. I'm writing about this in the FAQ atm and it's amazing how many times the Dev team come back to the words: Teamwork and Tactical (adjective, not noun). Extra C's video should be considered mandatory viewing for anyone who want's to discuss class dynamics. No it's not a cure-all for settling debates because there is grey area and a lot of abstraction but it becomes clear just how conservatively the Devs are approaching soft & strong asymmetry when you look at this proposal for Tacts.
There will be no end to this debate. Why don't we just test it out in Alpha first to see how it goes, there is no harm in trying
Not the biggest fan of Extra C, but i liked that vid. I feel that something similar is what the devs want to try and implement in EC. Looking at GW2 and its "everyone can do everything" policy, it leaves allot to be desired. Making everyone being able to do everything leaves the classes themselves less reliant on their fellows, which is kinda bad in a RvR style of game design. And in the end, like Sleepy said, one can always revert this and just give other classes the capping thing-a-majig item if it turns out to be a bad call in the Founders Access/Founders Beta.
