Aspiring Sorc on the verge of greatness. Can we get them there?

So I've finally got around to focusing on the Aspiring Sorcerer. I find the Nurgle builds has the most synergy and fits well with my play style. I am having a ton of fun with the Sorc.

A few observations on Sorcs in general(same applies to Warlocks on many of these points). I've found it unnecessarily difficult to juggle spells and keep track of what my spells are doing to friendlies and enemies due to the lack of proper on screen indicators and/or audio cues that are common in most other games.

    1. Unclear, confusing spell descriptions and no numbers or stats on any spells.

-Information on Sorc abilities is extremely confusing and totally inadequate
-Most spell or ability descriptions dont really describe what the heck the spell does exactly
-Zero stats for all spells. The ability description window fails to show damage numbers, duration of spell effects, single target or AOE, spell range, mana consumption. Nothing, nada, zero information and zero numbers on any spell. Very inadequate guys.
-Force Spell. What does this do exactly? How does it work? Why does it drop or stop working? How much are the increases to weapon damage and armour penetration? How do I know when it's working(on screen)? How do I know when the effect is no longer in effect? I cast this spell and so far as I can tell NOTHING happens.

    2. Unnecessary limitations on spell combinations

-Why can't we equip two healing spells? Why cant we equip the default(Undivided?) single target heal and another Chaos God specific heal? We should by all means be able to equip the default single target heal and one of the god specific AOE heals. It makes no sense at all not allowing us to equip two heals.

    3. We need additional on screen indicators next to our character that tell us our mana status and what spell we've selected.

-Can we please get a mana bar that works like the stamina bar on the left side of our character? It's too distracting to have to take our eyes off the horizon to look to the bottom right of the screen every few seconds to keep track of mana.

-Can we please get an icon that pops up above our heads(then fades out) AFTER we change abilities and accompanying audio cues that accompany each spell? Pistol(click click sound) >> Stream of Corruption(buzzing sound when selected) >> Flesh Circle(Chaos'y sound when selected) should all have different, unique icons that pop up and sounds that play above our character's head when selected. After 3 seconds or so the ability indicator fades away. Again it's too distracting and not practical to have to take our eyes off our character to check the bottom right corner of the screen every few seconds in order to see which spell or weapon is currently selected.

    4. Mana regen gear is too weak and underperforms for the price. We dont have enough mana regen gear or enough methods of adding to our total mana pool. Weapons and Armour should by default add a certain amount of total mana or mana regen.

    5. Stream of corruption doesn't work or takes a good 5 seconds of channeling to see any effects on target. It's impossible to tell what the spell is doing to our target.

-Once targets are infected we have no method of know when the target has reached max saturation(the point of diminishing returns). This results in wasted mana and wasted time.
-Icons above infected enemy heads should pop up once they're infected, and we should be able to tell via the icons when our target is fully saturated. The "infected" icons should show full saturation status then fade out incrementally as the spell effects fade out.

    6. Blight Grenade effects do NOT stack with Stream of Corruption.

-These abilities should stack! A frag grenade damage bloody well stacks with Bolter fire or other explosions! Why doesn't the Blight grenade DOT stack with other DoTs?

    7. Where are the Chaos Undivided spell selections and why isn't there an "Undivided" Chaos Mark?

    8. Missing potentially awesome immersive aspects as far as changing colors and skins for of force sword and force axe to match chosen Chaos God.

    -
Nurgle Force Sword weapons should look ancient and rusted versus pristine and purple. Nurgle weapons be glowing green with flies buzzing around the weapon.
-Appropriate colors and effects for Slaanesh and Tzeentch weapons.

Sorc and Warlock have a lot of potential. It's exciting imagining the possibilities. These classes are missing a lot of basic information as far as how their spells work and they're missing basic elements of the UI that could be helping players utilize these classes to their fullest potential.

    Questions for BHVR.

    1. Can we please get the Sorc and Warlock UI up to speed to help the player quickly and efficiently manage their mana pool as well as more information as to their spell or weapon selected status? Very often I have no idea what spell I've selected. Having to look at the tiny little box on the bottom right of the screen is NOT practical when we're swapping spells every couple seconds.

    2. Can we please get informative spell descriptions as well as the stats and numbers on each spell? in layman's terms! The "lore appropriate" description is fine. AFTER the lore appropriate description please add a more informative description in gamer speak, in terms we all understand. "AOE effect, 3 meters range, consumes 10 mana per second" or "single target damage over time spell, 33 damage per second, 50 feet range"

    3. Can we please get easy to see buff indicators on screen near our character for any weapon buffs or character buffs?

One day they'll add actual decent spells into this game like they had on the original trailer.

    One day... *sniffle*

*breaks down in tears and runs away crying*

Agree on almost all counts. It's highly frustrating to keep track of everything you need to as a Sorcerer.

The only thing I'd disagree with is that Warp Regen gear is undervalued. It really comes down to what spells you have slotted as to whether you're better with more Warp Charge or higher Regen.

healing buff debuff icons and general UI feedback of what's going on would be a VERY WELCOME addition to the asp sorcerer class. i to would like indicators like the eldar have for their buffs and heals. makes it so much easier to keep track of who's got boon of change and who hasn't.

Didnt even get a notification of being tagged... ah well.

  6. That Force Weapon in hand is a problem then. Force Weapons are some of the most lethal weapons in the entire 40K universe.

The current Force Buff is a start and a step in the right direction. I"d like to see a force buff for each Chaos God that imbues the Sorc's weapons with a different ability that suits each Chaos God.

While the ranged aspect should be an option it's absolutely ludicrous to suggest Sorc's shouldn't also have the multiple options to use that Force weapon to its fullest potential.

Melee supports are somewhat of a joke with the current Meta. Considering every single support has a melee option with 3/4 supports being melee only, why in the heck would BHVR say that supports should be more RANGED centric? 40K combat is DEFINED BY MELEE. A lot of us are sick and tired of ranged domination and we're sick of seeing EC creeping closer and closer to a Battlefield or Call of Duty reskin with melee combat being an afterthought or a minor inconvenience.

  7. Which is why any support with a Bolter in hand should have the current crap durability. Any support that has a melee weapon in hand should inherently have much higher durability FOR FREE because they're a GROUND BASED(no jump pack) Melee archetype.

Ground based Melee archetypes need inherently higher durability than their ranged counterparts for obvious reasons. The Sorc and Warlock at their core are MELEE ARCHETYPES before all else. If you're dead you're not healing. If you can't hold your own in a 1 v 1 situation you're dead and NOT healing or reviving your downed squad mates that are depending on you.

  8. I dunno. I've put about 40 hours into a Tzeentch sorcerer build. I'm as squishy as they come next to a Warlock. And it just means I have to adjust my play style. I still win melees against dedicated melees. I still sometimes beat tacticals out with a plasma pistol. What I generally do not survive is a melta weapon, at all, it's pretty much a done deal unless I can get them into melee. I'll tangle with anyone in melee though, come at me bro.

Between the heals, squad XP, melee kills, pistol kills and sweet, sweet daemon bolt kills, I manage between 1st and 5th on the server in a good match. I'll never top the charts for kills but I feel far from useless. It's just if I'm going to engage guys I have to be pretty smart about it.

TBH playing healers sometimes feels like playing this game hard mode. You don't have the stats for melee or ranged when it comes down to it. Which makes succeeding at either consistently feel pretty gratifying. Even went toe to toe with a veteran GA tonight, took him down alone and executed him. Maybe it was just lag. But it leaves me unconvinced that supports are helpless. Performing well sometimes under some conditions isn't a reason to not look at balance, but, it's something to consider when asking what's actually possible with a class.

The biggest danger as Apothecary is forgetting you're supposed to be healing because you're just unloading with a bolter like everyone else.

That was not mentioned during the stream. In fact, they deferred when asked about AS spells for the most part, saying what they want to do, not what they would do or when. I wouldn't hold your breath.

  9. Adding to the Sorc List.

    1. Why can't we equip the default single target heal + Flesh Circle(AOE) heal? Heaven forbid we really want to be a team player.

    2. Why does swapping between spells pop us out of sprint? Swapping spells or swapping from spell to pistol should not pop us out of sprint.

    3. We REALLY need on screen icons next to or above our Sorc/Warlock showing us which spell is selected.

I actually use a pistol on some Sorc builds and it's entirely too difficult juggling abilities because we have to stare at the teenie, tiny little box at the bottom right of our screen. I have a Dell 34" ultrawide monitor and finding that tiny box causes me to have to stop everything I'm doingg and look at that tiny little box way down on the bottom right corner of my screen. This must change guys. Please give us 'pop up' icons next to our character showing us which spell(or pistol) is selected.

Still think stream should reward closer range use by building faster with proximity to the target.
