Right if they're doing what I think they're doing then some of us are canon and TBH I think its a mistake. Right so the Space marines came and won the end sunrise sunset no mystery or drama here which is present in some capacity in all of Mcneils novels which sets him apart from most others in BL. I'm also not set on these "Heroic" proportions. Space Marine(the game)/sixth edition codex SMs proportions are the most reasonable and best in my opinion.
I think you have to take it with a grain of salt. Remember these are concept art works, things like proportions can and often are changed in the actual game. As far as the short story goes, thats what it was. A short and an introduction to the lore of the game. I liked it somewhat despite some of its cliche.
In this case, i prefer the word 'iconic'. Also if the marines werent smurfs i would have made that artwork my background.
Felix Proteus and Castor you guys are Games Workshop property now I suggest you check your privilege and ass to see if it is or is not stamped by GW.
I guess I'll never be canon... For the best really, I mean would you want Behaviour to be sued by DC/Warner bros?
We all know Rainbow Warriors would be the best so lets not even pretend anything else other than that would be better.
If you look on the EC site it titles Phase 4 as 'Short Stories'. So this is probably just one example. There will probably be more on other Chapters and Factions coming throughout next year.
Holy moly i gotta say that story was a riveting read and well worth the wait. However i believe there is a bit of confusion at the end of the story as the newly introduced (and former besieged) srg. is called Crastor.
Hmm I see your point after reading it again "The gates of the outpost open, and four bloodied Space Marines march out. At their head is another sergeant, his own blade as choked with alien flesh as his own. Sergeant Protus of the Ultramarines" then suddenly "Behind Castor come three others. The first is an axe-bearing warrior in the stormcloud armour of the Space Wolves. The second is clad in the crimson of the Blood Angels, his pale countenance streaked with alien blood. Last comes a Dark Angel, the hue of his green armour almost black." But nowhere does it mention that all drop pods are ultramarine ones only the first one, so could be protus and 3 marines march out to meet castor and 3 marines ( which get described in the quote above) , certainly not clear but I could blame that on the time and mjod
It was a fun little read. I hope they'll do one for all the races and not just keep churning out space marine stuff
