I thought it would be a nice idea to share a thought i had while on the cra... I mean on my throne and got to thinking. What if different factions had different squad sizes? For example what if the LSM had max squad sizes of 5 but double the moral bonus because LSM are big on moral while CSM would have squad sizes of 7-8 but being near a chaos leader REDUCES enemy moral while bolstering allied squad members by the current amount. Orks would be only buffed to grant squad bonus from a bigger range but keeping them at the current squad amounts (but make it so it fills squads before opening others) because "orkz follow da big git." Eldar to be honest would get a tiny nerf in that squad sizes become 7-8 but a slight buff in that being near leaders gives them a tiny regeneration bonus to armor and stamina. I feel these changes would also add more tactical layers to the game in that picking off squad leaders would become more vital. Any thoughts? Would really like to see more uniqueness to the factions, this is what has me hooked so far. Edit: pasting in my reasoning for each above choice LSM believe in smaller organised squads built for maximum impact, in the table top it was usually 5-6 that were more common tho larger ones did exist. CSM were more about less organisation and more about causing pain for the enemy so slightly bigger squads but with squad leader aura being able to debuff enemies means they'll wanna get more into the fray but making sure to cover the squad leader. Orkz have always been about numbers and just fighting so leaving squad sizes as big as they are makes more sense and they weren't so big on the defensive but leaders have always been big impacts for ork waaaaagh so a larger aura range i feel would add to this style. Eldar are the tricky ones, they have a mixture of both LSM and CSM when it comes to squads, they always want to rally together to cause max impact but they do it for duty not pain but they also dont move in to big a unit else it makes it an easier target, so giving them a slight regen boost for being near the leader while having slightly smaller squads means they'll try stay as a group.
I too wuuld loik ta' see more asymmetrical balance and each faction 'avin' diffarances, but be dere even moral bonuses in dis game? Da only fing I know dey do iz grant squads bonus XP from followin' marked objectives and stickin' ta'gevva
What do you mean with "Morale"? Afaik there is no Morale mechanic, only supression and supression resistance... but what would that have to do with squadsizes...? Please explain
oh the "moral" is the banner bonus like the 6% damage mutagen and the likes for standing near a squad leader, the banner bonus reason i made such suggestions as above is: LSM believe in smaller organised squads built for maximum impact, in the table top it was usually 5-6 that were more common tho larger ones did exist. Eldar are the tricky ones, they have a mixture of both LSM and CSM when it comes to squads, they always want to rally together to cause max impact but they do it for duty not pain but they also dont move in to big a unit else it makes it an easier target, so giving them a slight regen boost for being near the leader while having slightly smaller squads means they'll try stay as a group. overall this is just to try reward people for playing together more rather then all this run around hunting kills mentality you see alot while also keeping to the theme of warhammer 40k.
