Nah, I mean they're just predestined protagonists - more fit for the heroics the broad masses crave, considering they can do them (charge into the fray et cetera) and survive more likely than most mortals. Doesn't mean I dislike them I just think that SM are not the best auxiliary characters in a story revolving around mortals.

I say one squad. Right now we're pretty small so it doesn't matter anyway. They do have some autonomy, though - after all, they don't exactly wear cardboard armour.
