Magos Explorator Isidra Wright stood ready with her attention on the briefing commander. She didn't have one question; she had many. Many questions that would, she hoped, be answered by setting down on the surface and beginning to explore, or at least, furthered if not answered. Isidra doubted that anything worth knowing could be answered simply, or maybe she just liked complicated answers ... even in her thoughts, the mounting excitement of the new mission was causing her to parse language without regard to its rules. Her first mission away from her tutor and mentor, the esteemed Xenarite Alessandro Tezla, and she would be as his eyes and ears! His proxy sensory apparatus, she corrected herself. It was a weighty responsibility, but she could do it. Isidra drew herself up and stood a little taller, which, admittedly, was still not that tall. "Will live sampling of local fauna and flora be permitted?" she enquired. "There may be useful derivatives to be obtained, as well as greater understanding of the biosphere."
"Provided these samples are not dangerous in any way yes you may take samples however living fauna may not be taken until the outpost is fully completed. You do however have permission to name any new species you come into contact with provided you are the one that discovered it. Please do not let that go to your head anyways I will take two more questions before you are loaded into the Devourer and sent to the surface." Spoiler @Vulpas @High_Adept_Zeth
Lazarus stood in the back watching the briefing as he did thinking of possibility of where the vault could be on this world and how hard would be to get into it. "When reaching the landing zone shall we send out a few scout teams to begin looking for any information or clues on where the vault maybe on this world and are we allowed to begin setting up long range sensors to keep a eye out for anything that may enter the system while we are here?" The inquisitor spoke up now coming into the light.
The captain was somewhat startled by the inquisitor revealing himself. He had been told the inquisitor would be sent down from his ship but he had net seen him until now."Ye.. Yes lord the survey teams will be sent out upon landing and be given a modified Taurus that has had the weapon and ammo stores replaced with seats for passengers. The fleet will be on stand by and continually scan the planet and anything with in it's orbit like it's two moons." A communications officer would walk up to the Captain and whisper something to him and run back to the bridge. "Very well I have just been informed that you must be sent down imidiatly. Please proceed to the boarding ramps leading to the top floor of the dropship the servitors will be loaded into the vehicle bay." With that the rows of assorted soldiers and tech priests move into the dropship which filled relatively quickly do to it being mostly filled with building materials and supplies rather than troops like it would normally be under other circumstances. Manuvering thrusters lift the ship up and out of the bay and past an enormous air lock and into the void through the few view ports the planet took up the entirety of the view. The intercom would spark to life "Prepare for atmospheric entry." The saftey bars on the seats and the mag locks in the cargo bay would activate holding everything and everyone down. The view ports were quickly covered by a protective blast panel that came down from above it. From the outside it looked as if the ship was spewing flames from it's fins as the shear force of friction blackened the belly of the ship. The planet's atmosphere was thicker than expected this made maneuvering difficult for the lumbering ship as it seemingly plummeted towards the ground. Until the pilots activated it's thrusters slowing it down almost imidiatly if it weren't for the safety bars every single passenger would have been thrown from their seats. Using their new means of control the pilots steered the beast of a dropship towards where the plains meet the purple sea. With a final blast from their forward facing maneuvering thrusters they where able to stop their forward momentum and ease the ship into a large clearing now devoid of wild life as they were scared off due to the amount of noise coming from the ship. With the push of a button the landing gear unfold from their shielded compartments and touch the alien red soil. Once it was confirmed the landing gear had made contact the pilots cut the engines and released the saft bars and mag locks. The intercom sparked up agian "Landing successful you may get up and walk around, once comfortable head outside and group up with your assigned survey team or guard patrol. Before anyone asks yes the air is breathable readings show the atmosphere actually has a high oxygen percentage and gravity is slightly lower than Terran gravity but it is not really noticeable unless your bionics are overly sensitive. Good hunting and omnisiah watch over you." (you guys are all in one survey team just wanted to be clear about that)
It was a bumpy rid down, but Isidra was too excited to care. A bio-monitor on her wrist showed elevated blood pressure and increased heartbeat levels. Her stomach looped as they ship dropped out of space but she kept her gaze glued to the tiny viewport, eager for the first glimpse of an alien world. The sheer thrill of setting down on another planet had not yet worn off, despite her years of training and study. She was out of the craft almost as soon as it was declared safe and breathable, keen to get samples of the air and soil before she started on the local flora. Crouching down, Isidra selected a sample container with one of her mechadendrites while another took a small scraping of the nearest rock. Meanwhile, her gloved hands ran over the surface of the ground, gathering data on temperature, humidity, and moisture levels. A third mechadendrite scanned the mineral composition of the sample. "We shall claim this world in the name of the Omnissiah," she breathed, beaming behind her respiratory mask, "and by His Will we shall uncover its secrets!"
Isidra's equipment read as follows: Humidity is high as atmosphere appears to have a large amount of water vapor present as well as high amounts of oxygen liken to that of the earth from the time of the dinosaurs(not that you guys would know that ic but it was the only analogy I could think of). The soil contains a large amount of iron oxide giving it it's red color. The rock appears to just be nothing but condensed sediment. the temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit(24 C) For those paying attention to their surroundings it appeared that they had landed in a large red plain. A strange red long grass covered most of ground other than a strange gash in the soil made by what was left of an old river now just a small stream going between the rocks. The strange figures of the alien flora and fauna moved around in the distance and the large clouds floated by. According to the orbital mapping the strange purple sea is to the west once the entire group was assembled they would be given a modified taurus and be sent out to explore. Spoiler
The blonde haired man stepped outside after the common flight, walking a bit back and forth, kicking the dirt of the ground around, before kneeling down to feel through the grass. Curiously he eyed around and looked after ideal spots. Seeing that there was another adept taking more accurate data, he walked over to her (@Jorimel ). "Indeed we shall, dear Geologist." He smiled and offered a hand. "I am a Transmechanic, call me Erin. It appears we have been assigned to the same survey group."
"Designation Wright, cognomen Isidra," Isidra said, rising and shaking hands. Her mechadendrites busily squared away the first sample and its data. "Pleased to meet you, Erin," she added, as a more personal touch. "I look forward to sharing data with you as we explore this marvelous subject."
Law was almost out as quick as the Magos out of the drop ship. His purpose was different though. Without words he immediately went about trying to set about a perimeter for the survey team. His red armor suddenly started shading into the background making him harder to see. His eyes and scope were used to survey the terrain for threats.
The decent to the planet was turbulent, and the last time TA-251 had such a ride it ended up with a jarring return to the realm of normal senses. Once the ship was on solid ground, the Thallax departed from the ship as she slowly took the first steps onto the new planet, somewhat in awe when she saw that the new environment that wasn't a war-torn hell-hole like the last place she was deployed to, and seemed quite a nice place. Alas, TA-251 didn't have time to look at the eye-candy all day long, so the Thallax stood beside the Magos Explorator that had been looking at a rock and was in the same group, keeping an eye out for anything that might pose a threat to the group, or be worth a further look.
