I have no opinion one way or another on the OP, I just came here to say that Founders/Early backers talking about gambling being bad is -hilarious- given what you paid for and what we have now. Just an observation
Whats you point? Many games have actual gambling and a lot worse with similar ESRB ratings. Are you going Mary Whitehouse on us?
somebody was telling me about the tabletop titans on reddit a while ago. he said "if you're willing to spend $1500 you're probably going to win at the cost of alienating your friends" if they put in a new type of crate that is more like FIFA or CSGO loots, as well as making these items tradeable, they could attract a new type of customer as well as milking collectors. honestly i wonder why the cash shop isn't more like "ForgeWorld"
Actually, i am not gambling, because i cannot get the item twice, and eventually i'll have them all. And no, we really don't need Gambling in this game. Matter of fact, i despise all the gambling in videogames and i really hope that the CSGO Syndicate thing will backfire so hard on Valve that everyone will remove these gambling boxes in the near future, or we actually getting laws against these Gambling Boxes. Babies first lottery ticket shouldn't be in videogames. Period. And as for STO... Cryptic hasn't seen any money from me in a long long time, because i am not buying lottery tickets. And the amount they ask for ships is quite frankly a rip off. The only time i buy something its with my monthly stipend for being a 4lifer. I'd probably own every ship in the game, if they sold them in their store for a reasonable price, but i am not buying lottery tickets and i am not spending 30 bucks for a ship. Same as Eternal Crusade... if Behavior believes i am paying 10000 RTC for a color change on a Banshee then they are mad.
yeah i think shrines should all be 4k. i never spent much on STO myself, but i did open 50 boxes mostly through grinding, as well as getting a 250m ship. it's that somebody in the economy is buying keys and supporting the game somewhere, doesn't have to be you.
Its a texture color change... 1k is already asking much for something as simple as "instead of white make it black". But it effects me. Because they lock that stuff behind a lottery ticket. And i do not want to gamble. If i want to gamble i go hit a casino and get some proper gambling going... and not some pointless electronic items. If you want me to gamble with my hard earned cash, then there better be cash as potential payout. Even if it doesn't have to be me who buys them, they will be kept from me by locking them into this scam.
also you cant get duplicates atm, meaning if theres an item in the 30k lootboxs you want you are guaranteed to get it sooner or later. if they made lootboxs buyable with RTC and kept them the same that would generate more income without being the godawful crates of other games
