But you see they clearly have to fix ranged handholding. It couldn't possibly be that the melee system wasn't up to par previously, it's just ranged handholding.

Based on noah it looks like they're looking into the stagger length of the stun caused by dbash so that if you don't have a heavier tier melee weapon you cause a short stun rather than a long one. Like surviving a grenade at close range. I also think that the melee weapons might actually be a higher priority since there's master crafted version of both melee and ranged weapons but melee is a core mechanic unlike master crafted weapons. Melee is just more...impactful.

I don't think this will stop you from getting gunned down if shot in the face at close range though, but it won't be as much a death sentence for the melee player either.
