Right so firstly...lets keep it civil. Its clear to me that as things are right now, they are launching a bare-bones version of the game. It is obvious that they have made attempts to launch key features such as PvE, itemization, an advancement tree, etc. But these features are literally in their bare bones v 0.1 (ok some v0.5) state. Not much thought/effort has gone into it, given how much they've talked about it. Things need to be made, then iterated upon. Kind of like they were doing with the melee system. Sadly they ran out of time with everything else. We are only seeing these things for the first time in game, literally weeks out from Launch. Now that said, what would you like them to flesh out first? We're assuming server/game issues are #1 here. Oh and of course actually putting all the assets they currently have in-game! So which features of the game do you feel deserve the most attention? My first choice would be the Campaign system, since regardless of how good it will be (current iteration)...I feel this is the reason for people to continue fighting/playing. Therefore I feel it will always warrant more work. Second choice, I feel they need to work on the Advancement tree. I can live with few visual customization options initially, but I was really looking forward to building my own marine. So far the advancement options seem very lackluster :/. What would you like to see them work on initially post launch?
Good that you said that! It always helps. We fully disagree here! Visuals first! Fashion Crusade. Hell we can throw advancements out of the window completely for all i care. We can unlock everything. So you are not building "your own marine" at all. Do i want to have to choose certain perks? Actually no because we are locked into 4 character slots. Would suck for me. For me "building my own marine" is done through visuals not advancements. PS: I apologize to all Xenos for using the term "building my own marine"
I think advancements should be worked on again. Basically, they are good as is for now, but it's just a fucking confusing mess to look at. Put it in some categories, e.g. Gods, classes and something like Basic for CSM. This one, big, spread out tree is just horrible. Also, from my not-game-dev-view this might be not to much work (it's "just" rearranging). Besides that, I'm still hoping for a working world map in some kind, as well as visuals for the release. Edit: Bugs on top of the list should be obligatory. No one needs new bugs if there are still to many old ones ;-)
A must things for me to keep me playing more than 3 months from now: 1. Campaign system and interactive world map; 2. Zogging storyline (related with in-game events, as promised not some short story shit) 3. RPG elements - full customization, hundreds of visual solutions (not like 3 different swords like now lol). Lowest priority for me at the moment: 1. Server lag/low fps issues - feeling none of these. 2. Changes to gameplay - we have pretty fun shooter and they should keep it this way (except tweaking and further balancing ofc). 3. Consoles
Well lag and bugs should definitely be on the table first, cause people will quit this game in frustration on launch day when they get swarmed by these issues just as they open the first match. Also map balancing (im looking at you Fortress) needs to be done as well. Besides those two i also agree that the campaign system cant come soon enough, and should definitely take priority over anything like Terminator and equivalents that they set to be their first 3 month game update. Without a sense of purpose people will get bored fast and leave, the campaigns were the thing that made me confident that there will be a good story driven underlying purpose as to why we are gutting each other. I for example like GW2 WvW and PS2, and i play them still. But i cant play them for long because they have become stale, because they lack that "purpose". This is why i want to see campaigns take the stage as soon as possible, so i dont get bored of the pointless lobby shooter in a few months.
For me at least: 1.) Lag & Performance I am one of the unlucky fellas who got hit hard by the Laghammer. The game is more about hoping your ping was good enough to let that melee hit connect, and sometimes you feel like you are getting oneshoted by your enemy while in fact it's just lag. Regarding the Performance... Even at Patch 21, when you evaded into cover, you still got the last 2-3 shots while allready standing behind the wall. That's a netcode-problem i guess (I am no programmer myself, but netcode sounds cool and relevant! ), you know what i mean, don't you? This would scare of a lot of people in my opinion. 2.) Campaign System & Worldmap This will at least put a little bit of sense behind the battles we fight. Long way till the eventual open world, but it would be a first step in the right direction. Also, this would set EC apart from other lobby shooters i guess. 3.) Tyranid Lair optimization Randomly-generated diablo-like corridors and rooms, challenges that are funny, scary or overwhelming. There are people who don't like PvP that much, and those have to be served as well. And adding to this, this would be something unique for Eternal Crusade as well, a sales-argument you could build on. If it works correctly and is fun to play of course. 4.) Visual Costumizations Jeah, bite me! But i really like the looks of unique characters, be them as little as they like to. When every Character looks a little different, it gives you a totally different feeling, or at least me
To be honest I just assumed this whole thing got cut...entirely. I mean I'm sure some aspect of it will be implemented in the world map, but at this point I'm not really holding out much hope for it. Feel bad for the authors who wrote those short stories and created some really intriguing lore, with NPCs whom I was hoping to meet and perhaps fight. Would be cool if we could get those NPCs to show up in the Garrison at some point! As for PvE? It just doesn't really look like its ready yet. From the sounds of things on the last PvE twitch, there is still a lot of work to be done to make it worthwhile.
This is beta launch, nothing to be done about it. Game will be developed afterwards and all the features will come and some, hopefully, revised and remade. No much point of scrapping systems that are not ready enough.
The current performance has scared off everyone in my immediate circle. Currently, I am the only one that is able to play with some stability, but the others' are getting network issues to the point that its affecting their FPS, unless the patch to UE4.12 somehow made an Nvidia 680 obsolete then maybe its not network.
+1 to all of that. Just instead of lag put there stability(I'm suffering from CTDs since engine update).
