Hi Nathan This is a very brave/risky/crazy? thing to do! But kudos to giving some control, or at least a feeling of control back to the players. Before I start I'd like to say that I love the game (despite its flaws) and it is getting noticeably better and better with each patch. I hope you get something useful from this thread. Here's my suggestions; 1. Optimisation - I believe many of the current bugs that are complained about most (Dbash not properly registering, melee woes, hit detection etc) are due to the game being relatively unoptimised. Fix - @MCChivers has already created a fantastic thread that highlights some of the potential biggest culprits, change them and get the game running nice and smooth at all times. 2. Latency - This goes hand in hand with optimisation for me, but I believe that latency issues are also causing players to perceive something as a bug when in actuality what the player is seeing on their screen isn't happening. Fix - Increase player base so that more servers are used across the regions, Xmas sale, more content, balance, RTC sales, more positive publicity etc 3. The melee system - Needs to be looked at and homogenized across all factions, swords (nor any other weapon for that matter) should not be able to bypass clangs with any other weapon, any weapon (including the PF/PK) should be able to use the full RPS system in battle (impossible with PF/PK at present), Dbashes should be consistent and the same speed/range for all factions or should be a reaction to taking a quick attack. Fix - ensure the melee system works as intended in all cases across all faction interactions. 4. Tutorial - Make the tutorial way better across all factions to encourage retention of new players. Fix - Tell players what they need to do to win a game, what the difference is between vehicles and classes, how the melee system (is supposed to?) works, perhaps add bots to the garrison so that new players can practice against them 1 v 1 or with different weapons. 5. Map variation - Add a larger variety of maps, with different types of capture points to ensure varied play. Fix - As above, I believe you're already looking at this. 6. Customisation - Add more visual customisation to all races, I main Ork so we have a fair bit, but Eldar are really lacking, SM don't seem to have much either. Fix - Clone @NoahWard so he can work without any rest, sleep or downtime Perhaps look to see if there is a quicker way to get Games Workshop to agree your designs, I imagine this to be a massive bottleneck in your development. 7. Game Modes - Add more game modes to keep those of us who have put hundreds of hours into the game interested and engaged. Fix - I believe you're already looking at this with Tank Battle maps, the introduction of TEQs and possible PVPVE type maps. 8. PvE Engagement - I enjoy PvE when I play it, but I have only played it a handful of times as I find PvP far more engaging. Fix - Make PvE more engaging, give players a reason to play it and appropriate rewards for doing so, I believe this is already being looked at too. 9. Perceived Strength of Melee vs Ranged weaponry - I believe that the perceived strength of melee weaponry lies in the overuse of JPA and equivalent classes (for Eldar I'd claim the Scorpion fits the role) who easily initiate with the Heavy classes and can kill a few peeps before flying to safety. Fix - Restrict the movement of JPA and equivalent classes when locked on to a target, do not allow them to fly overhead while pelting me with bullets from a lock on pistol, before landing, stunning me and obliterating me with melee attacks. 10. Make Veterans useful - Veterans are fun and all but they kinda suck at the moment and don't feel very "veteran-y". Fix - Make vets able to equip any combination of items with no LP restriction to make them tougher, or make their spawning different and make them visibly distinct (if they aren't already). I hope that's useful and good luck! Again I really enjoy the game and thanks for offering us players this unique opportunity.
1. The current LP system is too limiting. Increase the LP, or reduce the cost of items, or do away with the LP system since you can only get 1 item per slot anyway. Allowing you to make veterans / elites/ ect unique with more tailored gear. 2. The game has no feeling of progression. In fact, I feel punished for advancing, instead of rewarded. As a result, instead of being invested in my characters and thus the game, I am in a state of indifference or agitation with the game. 3. Veteran classes are useless. Only 400 extra LP and spawns only 2-3 times depending on the battle makes them lackluster. In fact, I forget I even have them most of the time. 4. The constant, if you take off flying and touch anything remotely above your head, you fall like a rock is obnoxious. 5. Plasma guns are overpowered with the ability to hold the charge until you walk through the door, and the minimal effort it takes to aim and charge. 6. Poison DoT affects seem to be over performing by applying too many stacks rapidly. Especially the Nurgle spell. 7. Dbash needs to be re-tuned. It always feels like there’s only a 50/50 chance of it landing, and the stun doesn’t give you enough time to do an attack. 8.) Clipping on Terrain and Dead bodies. Tis silly think any military unit would get stuck on a snowball, or not leap over a dead body. 9. More maps, and different objectives. King of the Hill, tug of wars, and other things. An example of other things might include: Be the first to activate objectives to take control of an abandoned facility’s defenses. A fight to carry one or more power sources / lost tech / ect to you’re base of operation. And last, a PVE inclusion of 2 factions stranded in a tyriniad hive and the first team to unlock doors and get to the middle escapes, leaving the other team to a grim fate. 10. Items in the store for RTC is ridiculously priced. At $5 / 4k RTC = about $7 / item. And there’s 7 slots, so that’s $49 for cosmetics! Insane. I’m not big on cosmetics, but this price tag makes sure I stay uninterested.
1. Balance melee - prevent spamming power sword fast attacks, introduce proper counter for this or fix dbash, make it work against jpa rmb spammers. 2. matchmaking system seriously needs some adjustments, last night i had a match where we were 8 against 12 ssm team whole match. it's not normaland should be fixed. 3. orks player base seems to drop by 2/3 of ork players base since last two patches. Do something ro return players, do something brutally fun with their battle techniques, like you did with rokkit launchas(great oneshoting but unreliable weapon). Seriously, rokkit launcha is the thing that kept me playing as ork, because it's sooo satisfying, so funny, so ORKY to kill sm/csm healing squads and jpa with rokkits. you absolutely must do the same with other orky fings, for example add ramming bonus for trukks and wagons, or make boyz be able to ride on the top of trukks. Just do something orky with the faction and ork players will return.
1. Complete rework of the game style. Examples; the way points are captured, the timers, the tank spawns, the maps with the points being ALL indoors (melee spam), SECONDARY OBJECTIVES. 2. Large maps all being linked together into open territories (you promised to angry Joe they would be before 2017, he gonna be mad if they ain't!!). 3. Map design needs a overhaul (links in with Rework of game style). At the moment fights take place inside A or B or C etc. might as well remove majority of the terrain as know one has seen it or uses it... 4.Make the game immersive. Have some clips going on as the game loads into a match. example, you flying into battle in a storm raven, being inside of it, looking at fellow brother etc. 5. Making customisations actually work. For example, The Trim for space marines can't been seen on certain armours. 6. Art, design and lore. Need to look into 40k art and the universe a bit more. A lot of things are very inaccurate. (LSM having a life steal mod? That is heresy beyond measure, just give it a name change and description change. Also artificer armour is on the same level as terminator armour, and relic armour is beyond that... name changes please. And Eldar not being little weaklings. Things feel just wrong). 7. Point values on wargears and mods etc not being though through properly. Things have weird values which makes you either 20 points over or under, or are stupidly expensive for what they do. Can't do builds properly. Veterans are a big example. And also Healer classes. 8. THE GUILD SYSTEM. Whats the point of it? either remove it, or fix and update the damn thing so we don't have to have 400+ steam friends.. 9. Veterans are useless.. 10. They was a lot of things you said would be in the game by 2017 in many interviews (yes Nathan not the other chump). So for your sake and everyone here, put them in.
1. Campaigns - I haven't even watched todays twitch and I know it will be very barebones and disappointing. It needs to be much more fleshed out. i.e. more things to do, more consequences, more outcomes, etc. That is priority #1 and what will keep your customer base interested. 2. Lag/Network Issues - Nuff said 3. Customization parity across all factions - Its just not equal now! 4. Story - Cmon. You guys hired a fucking BL author to write great little stories and you ended up launching a game with absolutely nothing!? RPG gamers are one of the most populous gamers out there. They WANT some story! 5. MUCH MORE CUSTOMIZATION!!!! - Cmon we haven't even got 3 choices for arms, legs, backpack. I can't even look epic! 6. Better communication of information on the UI - Right now things are still unclear 7. A proper Tutorial System 8. Making the Garrison our default hub - would go far in developing a sense of community 9. More Faction specific Garrison flavoring 10. Flesh out PvE - The reason this isn't higher is because in its current form I simply don't care for it. Its dull and uninspired.
1. The game is an half-arsed wannabe Battlefield clone and thus extremely boring. I mean why should one even bother playing this instead, y'know, the original is well alive and kicking, right there around the corner, and 100x more satisfying to play. Its not like it had tragically disappear overnight to cause the players remain in such an dire shortage of an shooter game of this kind, to come flocking to this. There are absolutely 0 reasons one should bother spending time with this failure of an game instead playing an actual game. Having everything wrapped in wh40k alone does not make an good game alone on itself. You will have got to rework it all from ground up to become actually interesting. Sorry for perhaps this has been a bit blunt, but there is no way else for me to put it other than so.
1. better dev response to community's problems, especially on the steam forums, this game is losing players way too fast. this kinda give the devs a list of a feedback thing could be something real good, maybe set up a new one a little bit after every big patch 2. plasma cannon and auto cannon (abaddon's grace...) -> nerf them 3. TK'ing/trolling needs to be dealt with better, here are a few possible ways that I've mentioned elsewhere -driving your teammates to their deaths into lava pit or something should count as a TK, not suicide -lower the number of votes required to kick someone, it's nigh impossible to get people coordinated enough in a random pub match to vote and boot somebody. ex: took 2.5 minutes to kick a troll after he team killed 3 allied tanks and a dozen allies on a fortress offense with 23 people on the team -issue temporary bans -make votekicking more intuitive/tell people how it's done. I always get asked "how do I votekick someone" by several people when we're trying to kick a troll 4. *obligatory point about melee fixes/balancing needed* not going to really go into that because plenty of people in the past 10 pages have already done so 5. most paid weapons/mastercraft weapons are crap. this mainly bothers me with the dawn of the imperium weapons, because I want to use my phobos bolter I paid good money for, but it's crap. maybe allow them to be modded like any regular weapon? 6. having any good weapons when starting out is locked behind paying money for something OP (abaddon's grace...) or getting lucky with getting good mods from boxes. this is fairly discouraging 7. zedek on offense is awful 8. eldar tanks running people over.... 9. I feel like I spend way too much time in matches running to places 10. voice chat or something to get people to stop running away from me when I'm trying to heal them as an SM apothecary ^the 10th is kinda a placeholder, but still a gripe I have
1) Maps too close, allowing melee disproportionate dominance - enlarge the interior areas more, and have capture points more visible from the exterior or even *gasp* outside. 2) Plasma/autocannon spam - while the weapons are accurate to their lethality in the tabletop, it does not make for a fun game for anyone but the guy pulling the trigger; the the rate of fire needs to be slowed. 3) Tactical / Traitor / Shoota / Avenger - their only apparent advantage is the ability to cap points. Either make capping points worth more XP to make playing a Tac more rewarding, or make it faster if more cap at the same time. 4) vehicles are nearly useless - their weapon damage is pointless against each other, while Rhinos offer little to no protection due to Melta bomb suicide runs. Either up the damage they deal to each other (it should only take a maybe 2-3 bright lance hits to kill a predator according to tabletop), or provide more open terrain where the mobile bunker use of a tank is an asset. 4) Cosmetics and real $$ - this is a full price title, perhaps adjust RTC to be gained at a % rate of XP, more player indivduality would start to appear, while guilds etc would be able to mark themselves better on the battlefield. Have some cosmetics only available for real money, or drop price on main title and reimburse owners with RTC. 5) Matchmaking - war parties should be paired against war parties, not pugs. This needs to be addressed or some sort of squad/faction voip system integrated. Teamwork and group play only happens with quick simple communication options. 6) Lunge attack/RMB spam - Lunge is IMHO too far, to fast and a no brainer start of a fight. Perhaps have it use up the stamina, so that slam and jump away isn't abusable, and lunging around the room like a maniac is replaced with having to think about your backup, direction of attack and cover during a brawl. 7) Kill tickets - defensive limited lives I get, as it provides a timer on how they spend them. Perhaps triple or quadruple the amount for attackers, so they are under presure of of unsutainable losses as well. This way, capture points could simply be run down in # of spawns, allowing much more varied directions of attack and strategies. Simply an overall timer on the match, with winner determined by ratio of lives lost? 8) Spawning on cap points - enlarge the area of the spawn more then just the main room, and perhaps put in some sort of minimum distance calculation at time of spawn so you don't appear right in front of a melee RMB-spammer. 9) UI adjustments - allow us to increase minimap size and transparency, change where things are on HUD etc. Also, please add terrain and compass points to minimap. 10) Community transparency, and goals. Tell us if you don't know when something will be ready. We understand that some things take longer then others. Whet our appetites with screenshots of things you're working on. Get our feedback, post polls when you're thinking about balance changes. Allow us, your customers, to have some say and input. Most of us are here because we are also 40k fans, so this is both yours and our chances at having a great long term 40k game that we can play for years.
1) The game is NOT FUN I will be BLUNT in my solution...just start the game development over and "can" the current game. 2) The game NEVER had balance, still has no balance...always some crazy OP class/race Solution...FIRE whoever was in charge of game balance and hire someone else 3) The game is NOT massive anything Solution is same as (1), more specifically abandon the current Lobby Shooter and make an MMORPG 4) Not even close to being true to Warhammer 40K lore Solution is to base the game on the CODEX and not Developer fetish's 5) Does not feel like Warhammer 40K, only looks like it Solution is what I said in (1), (3), (4) 6) No faith in the Dev's anymore Solution is to dig yourself out of a very deep hole or just start over...no faith in you or anyone there Nathan...Sorry 7) Promises not kept Solution is same as (6) 8) Feels like an Eternal Alpha Solution is (1-7) 9) Too expensive Solution, lower the price by 50%, go F2P, or just start over and do it properly and then charge $49 10) No more Founders or Early Access Solution-When its done its done, just like Blizzard does.
I know you're working very hard and most of the things on this list are already being worked on, but I'd like to give my feedback =) 1. Campaign Right now we are just playing a bit randomly around the maps, we play for XP and tokens: we are not that invested. FIX: Adding a metagame will keep the player invested in the game for a much longer time (and it's fun). 2. Dailies I don't know how the Campaign is going to work, but every online game needs a "daily quest" of some sort, it keeps player invested. FIX: Just as they did in Guild Wars 2, I think if there's a system that mimics a "daily quest system", this pushes players to play AT LEAST once a day when they just bought the game. I think this feature might actually help the game a lot. 3. Map variety The maps are fine, but I think every match should be more different from the other. FIX: Add random modification to every match in every map. There could be a Warp Storm in every map or harsh conditions in general and they should effect all the players not just one side. 4. Secondary Objective We all know we play for the objective, but the experience needs to be more varied and focus more on tactics than "zerg blob until we win". FIX: Add minor objective that has to be taken (just once) and gives asymmetrical bonus to the attacker or the defender OR add to every objective (especially on fortresses) 2-3 minor objective nearby. This minor objective represent places from where you can launch a decisive attack (eg. the walls of the fortress or a building nearby). They don't give particular bonuses to either team, just a little bit of exp maybe, but you need to own them if you want to capture the point. This kind of thing already happen naturally, but if introduced it forces the players to act more "tactically" and avoid ninja capture (you can't capture anything if you don't have a supply line working). (Please game designers, don't kill me) 5. Reward Boxes rework Right know we have different boxes at different costs: but they all roll on the same loot table, so it's better to get the cheaper first and then go up. FIX: Force the players to buy them gradually. When you create a new character, just let it buy the 1000 token boxes: they are simply not there. Then after all the 1000 boxes are bought, the 5000 boxes are unlocked and appears on the store (while the 1000 disappears). 6. More customisation and discount The game has just launched, but there are some faction that needs more cosmetics (and everybody just wants more), but the prices are actually pretty high. FIX: Just make more cosmetic items (yeah I know, kinda lazy from my part) but think of a "discount system" in the RTC shop. Such discount could be obtained by playing the campaign (but I think you'll be giving straight RTC currency in that) or as monthly rewards. Even a little discount will do (like 10%, you need at least 2 digits to make it look like a legit discount) and not on buying currency, but just on particular items (so you have to obtain currency anyway). The discount lasts for X ammount of time and then they are trashed. 7. Players Hub The game is a persistent world, but it doesn't have much of it's social aspects, we all know we are just warriors fighting a war and we don't have /dance, but we actually need some sort of place to go and talk. FIX: When you choose a character you can do 2 things: 1. To war (works the same) 2. Go to the Garrison. There you can meet other player, change your loadout and make a party and start a match. This will really help the social aspect of the game. A finishing touch that I'd like to see: when you want to find a match you get inside a special rhino/drop pod/whatever. You confirm you want to "go to war" and every other that gets inside that transport will be your team as soon as you start a match. Then the countdown ends, the rhino start going forward to the horizon... fade to black! (and then the loading time begins) 8. Voice chat We can use the text chat, but sometimes it gets really difficult to communicate while fighting. The voice chat needs to return ASAP! FIX: Bring back the voice chat (again, I'm so lazy), but I would GLADLY PAY MONEY if you let me buy a "voice change pack": so my voice has the same pitch and tone as my character would (don't really know if this can actually work or not, but I would just keep throwing my money at you for this). 9. Lag I don't think this should be on the list, but I'm having huge lag spikes just with this game (not fps drop, legit lag spike where I just see people running forward for 3-4 seconds and then everything do the timewarp and I'm dead because my character run who knows where). FIX: Don't really know if this is something I can fix by myself or not. I play other mmo and I experience this huge lag just with EC. I'll be changing internet provider and connection soon, so it might become a real problem later... or get fixed magically. 10. In-game events After we got all that (and the expansion are going well) I'd like to see some events that may keep the community occupied. FIX: Do an ingame event every 2-3 months. It should influence mechanics a bit. The very first thing that comes to mind is "we have to awaken this demon: we need to do a lot of execution as they count as sacrifice to awaken this powerful khorne demon" for Chaos, while the others has to.. well.. avoid that or some other kind of mechanic. At the end of the event players might get some sore of bonus/trophy for participating. It would be really really cool if we get a special map by the end of the event like "stop the ritual", where chaos might actually summon the demon (ad it works like a Tyranid warriors on super steroids) Some of my suggestion might be quite off with the game design choices, but if the particular example doesn't fit, I hope at least the concept should!
