It used to be much worse before the TK system was in place, but now that TKers are punished it isn't so bad. About the only things I would want away from the Plasma Cannon are

1.) Snap fire removed. This never should have been a thing and most players will admit to that. That being said, until the Devs get their own pistols I can wait on this. Seriously though, once they get their pistols the snap fire needs to go, it is especially cheesy against JPA/Raptors.

2.) A longer "charge up time". Plasma Cannon users are masters of cheesing around corners and abusing the hold charge then fire instantly around corner maneuver, this will never really change. By increasing the charge up time though, you can at least stop situations where someone like a Tactical will start firing on the Dev first and the Dev having enough time to charge a shot and kill his attacker (or both of them) before the Tac can kill the Plasma Cannon user. If a player gets first shots off on a Dev, and doesn't miss any shots, the Dev shouldn't have time to fire off a charged shot. It's just bad mechanics for a game.

Other than that, the Plasma Cannon is fine though.

Respectfully, you're doing it wrong. The bulk of my 200+ hours has been with a Raptor, I've been hit by a plasma cannon mid air once and only get killed on the ground if I'm dicking around.

    Plasma cannon is fine.
  3. I agree with much that has been written here.

What you have to understand is, any nerf to the plasma cannon or multi melta is a buff to a shield class (orks will get them too I hear). It is also a lesser buff to non shield using GA classes.

Why you ask? Because it is the best weapon to deal with a shield user and one of the more powerful GA counters overall. Let's just start calling them shield users, as orks are likely to get them too.

If your smart and traverse the environment efficiently and take the PC wielder by as much surprise as possible they are manageable.

PC ball lands 5 feet away, blast radius kills you instantly even though you evaded away? A bit broken but what you gonna do.

I'm guilty of one shotting people with the Power Sword, no real difference other than the kill radious is much less and you need to put up a lot more risk for the reward, sneaking up behind an unwary PC wielder, charging up a strong attack and watching them drop.

Saying that, being 1 shot by anything in any game is just not fun. Plain and simple.

We should always be able to do something to alter the outcome of a fight, being hit once? and the attitude is "tough, deal with it" isn't an answer. Its still not fun, and that's the aim isn't it? people like to feel like they're in control of their situation.

I'm all about honest kills and honest deaths, knowing that I earn't that kill as equally as I earn't that death, knowing I could have done something differently / better to avoid it next time is key to maintaining the 'fun' element. The answer isn't "just don't get hit that one time" no matter your class.

Difficult to balance as if you take away the PC wielders ability to 1 shot with their charged shot, that's pretty much their class mechanic done.

In conclusion, PC wielders dont need to worry, their not going to take your toys away, hell you can keep them. This class isn't that much of a threat if you play intelligently.
    Airborne and RustyRake like this.

The standard boltgun is good vs PC mid/closerange...just don't stand still.
  6. Celestia Celestia Prefectus

I flop often between MoN and PC, I die more to bolter fire than anything. If you pay attention to glowing guns and keep moving they often miss. Some people are good at predicting and timing though and that's fair.

From chaos side? PC is the safest and the inly reliable shieldbro (that doesn't require excessive squadfire, convenient boxes for his buddies to spot you, or that needle threading 'flank'). Also is a nice way to make sure an apoth cant jam his brothers full of emperor brand soppositories for an immediate rally.

Its not fun being pidgeon holed into a few power weapons, but the ever touted 'balance comes later' holds some water.
  8. NoobMister NoobMister Steam Early Access

I'm actually going to agree with the OP on this. The Plasma Cheese is real. If I had to list the top three things that kill me in this game, it would be Bolter fire, melee and charged Plasma shots. Heck, I'm currently making an SFM animation on this (similar to what I did when when MoN got nerfed)

Best "balance" I can think of is limit the PC to one charged shot before it overheats, maybe increase the charged shot time and also maybe give it a longer cooling time. PG and PP are okay in my eyes (the worst they do is a lot of damage and stagger you).

Also, is it me, or do charged Plasma shots of any gun not get affected by suppression? It still feel like they're quite accurate even under that effect.
  9. Galen Galen Arkhona Vanguard

Yeah there should also be a warning visible to the whole map about where the charged shot will land! And devastators MS should be nerfed awell.
  10. Ohyoupokedme Poked First Blood!

And there should also be less poisonous sarcasm leaving your computer screen.

Seriously, you bring no value to the discussion this way.
