  1. You don't think people are sick of PvE themepark MMOs?
  2. Murtag Murtag Cipher

There's a free to play option. The game is not free to play.

^^Pretty much this. While I don't totally agree with the last part, I'm also from the EQ1 era, and times have-a-changed when it comes to PvE.

You just can't even REMOTELY look at it the same anymore. Half (more) of this generation of gamer don't have even the slightest clue what it was like to try and reach endgame let alone TRAVEL across a ONE freakin' zone.

    /OLD MAN MODE OFF

Seriously, the landscape is so different now with PvE content usually devoured faster than dev's can put it out, things have to change. If you suggest putting a grind back in to compensate, you'll see gamers head start to explode.

By no means am I suggesting "I" have an answer. It's a delicate balance and I salute Dev's every day. I've played almost every Major (and most minor) MMO out there. Some are great, some are garbage. In the end, we have to think they did their best. OK, we don't... some games just suck... =P

  5. I think what the OP was trying to say is, he does not want the game to be a "Twitch/esport MMO" that never works, were the dev's spend X amount of funding trying to cater to the e-sport crowd, were that X amount could be better used to fund PVE or "EPIC" PVP scale battle's. I have full faith in the dev's that this game will be "EPIC"
PVP battle's and not that e-sport shit. Look at GW2 they focused 20% of there funding towards e-sport and it blew up in there face, imagine what that 20% funding focused on WvWvW could have been used to create. I really appreciate the dev's on your guy's transparency policy, good luck and continue on your development!!!

No, I agree with you on that point. "e-sports" has no place in the game. And I think it's hysterical how it blew up in GW2's face too. Though I play the game (GW2), I truly can't stand the rabid fanboi'ism of it that some people have. It's an average MMO at best. Wish they would have made WAR F2P before it was gonna close. =/

Just wait and see what else the devs have in store before jumping at each others throats. We are still at a very early place with the game. I think the footage is promising.

  8. There is a point where you need to say I don't like the type of game this is. If your looking for questing and pve then this game isn't going to do it for you. The whole concept of the game is a four way pvp war. The devs would have to add two or three year to make the game. PvP games don't take as much time to make due to the simple fact you don't need to build a huge amount of content. WoW will forever hold the title of mmo king, in 20 years people will still play it because of the large amount of content. If this isn't what you are looking for you need to walk away and look else where. Go look at firefall, that game is going to have really strong and new pve.

If I'm interested in this game, as certainly the very majority of this community, it's because it's heavily PvP focused.

I will not play a PvE focused game in the wh40k universe, even a PvP game with let's say 30 to 20% PvE. To me there should not even be PvE in a massively multiplayer wh40k game, hence 20% of PvE content is the very maximum limit I would tolerate... but frankly I do hope it will be less.

I'm utterly bored with MMOs, I never liked nor played MMOs for more than a few weeks, and at casual time frequency, because of the heavy PvE focuse trend due to Wow fanboys, even for games announced as PvP focused.
I've seen many good games turning back from PvP to PvE, because PvE players always want more and more PvE (not to mention they frequently despise and insult PvP lovers... whereas if you look at all games history : PvP as always been the main trend ex : chess, scrabble, poker, mahjong, etc...) even for games not designed for it at beginning : CONAN, WAR, SWTOR (which was full pvp server in beta) Firefall (which goes Under without even being released yet).

Nowadays MMOs focuse every resources on PvE content and rush PvP content, if ever there is some PvP content, because they all use the Wow pattern.

Thing is thanks to people like you : studios do not know how to make MMO PvP games, cause nobody takes risk nor even lose time thinking about a PvP focused game.

Thankfully SOE once again show how they are true MMO masters, by succeeding in having in one hand a good MMOfps and in other hand making the MMO kind evoluate thanks to the upcomming Everquest next.

If I can punch a Tyranid in the face and break it's jaw clean off as an execution, my life in the realm of PvE is complete.
