The XCOM project had been activated. It was apparent, if something wasn't done, then civilization would be brought to its knees by the new extraterrestrial threat. A small squad of operatives had been gathered and were now aboard a vehicle known only as the Skyranger. The vehicle was advanced in its own right, capable of reaching speeds that very few others had been able to reach. And last defense. Each of them was equipped with an assault rifle, body armor, and a single grenade. They had been enlisted for several days now, some longer than others. Their ear pieces beeped for a moment, before a voice was heard. "We're nearing the drop zone. As you all know this will be our first attempt to thwart the enemies' offensive. Our operation area is within the Continental United States. There have been reports of alien abductions in this area. Why? We can only guess. But we know that it can not be allowed to continue unchecked. Your objective is to touch down and confirm that the area is clear of any civilians as well as eliminate any hostile ground forces. Once that's done return to the evac. point. Cleanup will be conducted afterward. If you have any questions then do ask them now." "Can we not just talk with them? What better are we if we find them, capture them and analyze them just like they probably do with their abductions?" Rodney inquired with more fear than rationalizing in his voice, obviously nervous about combat, but his hand on his pistol-holster showing he was ready to do what was necessary. His physical features were all hidden due to the tactical armor and helmet, giving only his regular, but trained physique, given that after all he was a soldier, like the others.
"All attempts to contact the aliens so far have failed. They have proceeded to kill abduct as they please. Body counts around the world have risen. As it stands, war is the answer."
"Understood, Mission Control." Rodney said with a slight gulp, not sure what to expect. Fighting other humans, sure, one knew where organs were, that shots into legs would stop one and not kill. But with an Extra Terrestrial life form? Where to shot to kill? Where to stop? Just expect that their brains would be located in whatever would look like a head? He took a deep breath to calm his mind down.
"I don't need to remind you all about only using excessive force when necessary, do I?" Carla showed a state of calm excitement that could very well be seen as insane given the circumstances, but being a scientist first and soldier second she truly appreciated the chance to examine the biology of an alien species. "I'm certain the fine men and women at HQ want to poke around inside these things as much as I do, can't be bringing them bullet-riddled messes in as samples can we?"
"well since there likely packin heat from where ever they come from We will likely be able to fix ourselves up when this is all over and if we get hurt in battle. I will be likely able to fix you guys up if it comes to that Since I know you guys better then we know the aliens." A women in the back said wearing Standard military armor and boots and gloves. she had with her a standard assault rifle and pistol ready and was doing a final check on her rifle. The women her self seemed to have a more southern american accent and had blonde hair
"I say we forget the capture and blow them into tiny alien chunks. then you can just bag the organs and tada problem solved!" Leroy stated with great enthusiasm. While gesturing with his hands to get his point across. He appears well built and has a sense of optimism and cheer around him. "And speaking of guts does anyone want to join me after this is over for some chicken and giblet gravy?"
Several minutes later the Skyranger had set down and the team was dropped off. From their current position they could see several small cars(Half cover) in front of them and to their right. To their left was a row of trees. (Full cover) A convenience store could also be seen, but it was too difficult to see if anything was inside at the moment. For now, all was quiet, the quiet before the storm.
Leroy looked toward the convenient store with a wide smile on his face. "I don't know about y'all but I want a chance to find some chocolate. Command would you be okay with that after we complete our objective? Also we might wanna consider that their might be some civilians hiding in the building."
As Rex got out of the sky ranger her eyes went to the cover near the trees best place not to be spotted and to possibly give support fire to others when needed. She began sprinting over it and peered over to the convient store. "Keep your eyes out don't know much about aliens but I don't want to get shot by one." she said over the coms as she kept a look out
