@Oveur @Djemo-SRB Whilst I don't think I'll be able to contribute towards any actual general "storyline" type stuff, I'm more than happy to help you guys with the wording and /or spelling of the Orky campaign blurb texts. This kinda thing is a passion of mine and I'd love to be able to be more involved if I could.
What I would really like to see is for them to stop having the faction leader directly addressing individuals and start making it about the entire faction. I'd consider myself a Chaos Champion for several reasons that are irrelevant to this, and even I don't think that Abbadon would single me out directly, let alone some level one dude that doesn't even understand time bonuses. For one, Abbadon is the leader of perhaps a million Astartes, you think he micromanage every squad leader? He doesn't have time for that, he has lieutenant who have lieutenants to pass down orders, that's how the chain of command works. The President doesn't tell some Private he's personally responsible for the campaign. Secondly, I play a Word Bearer, we don't answer to Abbadon. They respect the fact he has 10x the numbers, but in the lore they consider themselves the Warmaster's allies, not his subordinates. He wouldn't even be ordering me around, I'm not really one of his men, and the top Word Bearer wouldn't be either. So where are the subfaction leaders? What ever happened to Black Legion's second in command? He might actually talk directly to lesser commanders, maybe as an envoy to other Legions, though I still don't like the whole "I'm talking to you, yes you" stuff. Especially since after losing a Campaign if Abbadon was holding you directly responsible and you failed, he'd probably kill you. It's similar with the others, especially LSM in regards to other Chapters not answering directly to the Faction Leader. An Ork Warboss would destroy you if you lived to tell him of your failure, even if the Subfaction differences wouldn't be as important. Eldar would probably defer to Jain Zar but still she should be addressing them as a whole, not as individuals. And that's forgetting there was supposed to be a narrative to this game, a reason why anyone cares about some dead planet.
I assumed there was some artefact there Chaos wanted, Eldar didn't want them to have, Orks just wanted a fight and Spess Mahreens noticed Chaos was there and went to engage them because of it.
I had assumed it was a Webway nexus point, which would explain the Tyranids arriving from nowhere and why everyone is interested. Except Orks, they don't care they only needed to know that there was a big fight going on.
