While I totally respect your opinion, I just quoted you because you literally said "npcs have no place in a pvp game", and that is far broader than your new specific view and totally contradicted what is known about the game: there will be PvE instanses and Devs really want to add npcs (Tyranids) into PvP battles as a balancing force. PS: I want to add, that while it is uncommon to have a summoner class in FPS it is not that uncommon at all to have limited turrets or similar defensive "NPCs", sometimes as weapons, others as skills and others as map-specific places. While I recalled team fortress 2 (or Borderlands if you like PvE) for static turrets/NPCs, natural selection 2 has in fact mobile "turrets" (the ARC). The point is that a single NPC/turret wont necessary make a class a "summoner" class, but a support with more utility.
Ok, how do you imagine your big-ass Wraithguard behaving, considering that we will have unit collision? It will be stuck in a blob of players, annoying both them and you. And that is only a minor problem with it.
I don't change my opinion every 5 minutes, i just see it as a lesser evil. I will ask about this in the Q&A this next thursday but i really don' think the nids will be seen in the open world, much less in a battle.
Well, if nothing else, wraithguard probably should never be further than a hop from a transport to lug their slow arses wherever their fire-power is needed. They would also serve well at choke-points where their deadly guns combined with toughness would act as anchors around which a battle can evolve. It's one thing to say Eldar can fight a war as fluidly as water but for human players such as us something solid we can rely on like Wraithguard would go a long way. Probably. Who knows.
Sure, or both. There won't be many NPC's anyway. Had the same talk in the Avatar thread, the very thought of daft AI chasing some cheeky scout across a battle-field instead of doing something useful is just too horrible.
I dislike the idea of anything faction based being NPC controlled. If this game is as big on scale as they are claiming than there should not be any need for NPC controlled anything (other than Tyrranids).
