For melee, its mostly attacking the ranged player as ferociously as possible so they don't get to shoot you. If you make a mistake, you can compensate with Iframes. The less you clang, the better. For ranged, its either trying to outmaneuver the enemy (if they are bad enough), so you get behind them and can shoot safely. Or just fending them off as long as possible, hoping you get help. Shieldbros have the additional option of just hiding behind their Shield but at the cost of wasting time and losing the initiative. Jetpacks have the ability to disengage when they aren't doing well, use air-attacks to try and break the enemy resistance or just fly up and spam Smart-Pistol. All in all I believe we have one of the best states possible but in one of the worst frameworks imagineable. Its 'balanced' but its not fun for either side, engaging or skillful.
