MMO as in Massively Multplayer not MMORPG. This game is gonna be mostly PvP. That means that not everyone gets to be a champion. Most players will be just regular space marines and their factional counterparts. You can imagine being a glorious Herald of The Chapter in your head all day but everyone else is doing the same thing. Basically there will be only a few unique little snowflakes that are that way because they have the skills to back it up. Or a dedicated squad helping them be a badass. The rest of us are just foot sloggers rushing the objective. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.
Not that worried. My guess is that there will be some sort of cap (hard or soft, I have no idea) on how many warbosses there can be. My only worry is that there simply won't be enough F2P player in the end, meaning that as an Ork I'd still feel like a Space Marine due to us being so damn few.
I have the same worries. I will personally be loving the slaughter of fresh orky noobs come launch day but I'll soon regret it I imagine. I'm sure many a F2P Ork Boy will rage quit when they realize it takes five of them to take down one Space Marine.
The way I see it no one will really turn Warlord past the title at most people will be veterans of their factionswhich are still grunts just strong grunts, because this will also be a shooter skill will have a big impact on how it will be played even if the guy you are shooting at is like 20 levels higher then you I don't think the power gap will be impossible to beat him. In the midst of all the chaos of battle I think it will equal out nicely when it comes to wanting to slaughter your enemies and it will feel like you are killing the masses like you want to feel like you doing. Of course as mentioned before too Ork Boyz will drop like flies.
If there is a system that only allows a few players from reaching the top level/rank/power level of the game it will drive players away. I don't see them doing it, after all EC is going to be a MMORPG. (as per the FAQ) "Guild" rank will not matter on the battlefield. We don't know how player levels is going to be handled, but I'm betting that at some point in time that we will be fighting battles between groups of max "level" players. So yes at some point in time I see the likely hood of there being no more easy kills on the battlefield.
Someone mentioned on the Q&A that the f2p Ork Boyz will be full fledged players, meaning they won't have artificial strength caps slapped onto their characters. They just won't be able to progress as far or as fast up the Ork progression tree.
I think you wont see too many warbosses, generals, chapter masters, etc... There will be three levels of hierarchy. Squad leaders (leading 10 people) Strike force leaders (leading 100 people) and member of the war council wich overseeing the war efforts. The servertypes are single, so basically one big server for everyone on Earth. "Because it’s a PVP-centric game, if you take a new player that has just come into the game, and someone who has been playing for three years, and if you were to undress them, they would be about the same in terms of power." There are many info in this article, read it. http://gamingbolt.com/warhammer-40k...all-out-online-war-next-gen-consoles-and-more TL;DR: Basically some of them will have better gear, some of them dont, you wont see warbosses and chaos lords every corner.
Don't forget they might add NPC troopers around bases/objectives and such. And even though Nids have been confirmed as the main PvE target this doesnt mean the PVP objectives wont have auxiliary npc troops guarding them. (Hate to make this comparison, but much like the NPC mobs in the battlegrounds objectives of WoW....Yuck i need to shower now...)
Ive heard this too and rather like the idea of the whole thing. Adds thats extract bit to capturing and controlling new terroirity. Besides players arent always around to defend an area until they are needed, NPC would help with slowing the capture of places not well defended when a race attempts to blindside you or the 'nids attack. As for not having enough F2P boyz running around this is somthing i would be a bit concerned about as well. I'd like to think the Dev's are tracking it and as was mentioned earlier that those who choose to play orks will still be allowed to play boyz and that this "position" could be asked to be fulfilled by the commanders
