Upon looking back, I was thinking of how unbecoming it was of Marduk to have simply thrown away that Rouge Trader slaver dude(I forget his name, and don't feel like digging the book out right now) from the second book. For one he owed the man a life debt, that the faithful of Lorgar should still hold sacred. It may be the way of Chaos space marines to view upon mere mortals as irrelevant to them, but throwing a perfectly useful pilot into the death labors of Sicarus just seems wasteful (among other things) For one, he's a rouge trader. Supply lines win wars, and having a personal agent to use the very materials of the corrupt Imperium just seems a delicious irony. Imagine slaying the Sons of Guilliman with bolter rounds purchased from the very mannufactorums in which are leveled in your assault. Then, being a before existing presence amongst the void space between imperial sectors, he would have access to a vast networks and contacts, potentially reaching to the furthest fringes of the Imperium. Such a thing could be used to stir up cultist uprisings on countless worlds. The magnificent Lorgar denied to converse with mortals, such is an example of what many have lost in the Long War.
I would agree with you there. I remember the encounter when Marduke first met the Trader aboard the Dark Eldar ship and was then used as a vessel to bring forth the Daemonettes of Slaanesh. The Rouge Trader was even exposed to the intoxicating aromas and touches of the Dark Prince, such a thing could be a means of rewarding the Trader for serving the XVII Legion. Marduke may have been the chosen of the Dark Gods and ascended to the ranks of a Dark Apostle and now wears the Crux Terminatous of his now dead mentor. But he fails to have the foresight of future campaigns against the Imperium.
I am the hand that turns the pages of the book of Lorgar and the fist that crushes those who defy it's texts! They shall know no fear until we wrap our hands around their throats and watch the fear bleed from their eyes!
"Faith is the soul of any army; be it vested in primitive religion or enlightened truth. It makes even the least soldier mighty, the craven is remade worthy and through its balm any hardship may be endured. Faith ennobles all of the worlds the soldier undertakes be they so base or vile, and imports to them the golden spark of transcendent purpose." — Lorgar Aurelian, Primarch of the Word Bearers
' Chaos Incarnate is only grotesque because we see it with mortal eyes. ' - Lorgar The fool loyalits are incapable to see the truth. However, we will show them what is the ULTIMATE TRUTH! FOR LORGAR!
