Wolves And Other Mounts

Discussion in 'Space Marines' started by Pell, Dec 2, 2013.

  1. Where do you spawn them? Are there limitations? Would it just be a spell with a cooldown? Could everyone do it? What mounts are there for the other chapters in case of the Space Wolves' wolves? The wolf just going out into the distance? That doesn't sound very immerse (or makes any sense). Aren't juggernauts Khorne specific? (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Juggernaut#.UuAJyxDb-Um) Could you fight with the mounts? If you could just spawn mounts whats the point in vehicles? Could you just spawn them too with a whistle?

They are basing this game more on things like Planetside 2,where you can't just spawn stuff out of nowhere, its a large scale combat PvP scene, mounts don't work. Having mounts would just give you an unfair advantage, since the things would actually fight. Not to say stuff like rhinos and people who like to transport others to the battlefield would completely be neglected.

I can come up with more implications that would just unbalance the game and make people complain later in the forums. This is a large scale battlefield people, not WoW.

Good god you really dont like this do you, if you did like it you would have tried to find solutions to these questions as well and you would have seen them, just say i dont like it and we will note your opinion and respect it.

You spawn them out of combat.

You can have 1 out when your out of combat.

Yes it will be a spell, calldown, or call with some 30 seconds cooldown or such.

If you buy one and have the correct rank you can have one and use one, otherwise we start of with bikes.

Other chapters can have their own bikes with their own chapter designed ones, other chapters cant use other mounts due to lore, if you have ideas for their mounts go ahead and suggest.

The wolf runs of into the distance, he digs a hole and runs underground, a helicopter brings him up in a harness and transports him away, a rhino does it, not immersive enough? got better ideas come with them, does the wolf disappear in a magic trick? how does anything make sense except him running of into the distance somewhere safe.

Juggernaut are khorne specific being undivided i have access to all of the gods specialities being of high rank i get access to the god favours, or is "undivided just a word.

No you can not fight with the mounts they are cosmetic transportation.

The point is having it in cash shop as an alternate way of getting to a destination like bikes, bikes but aesthethical different in looks, only avilable at a certain rank of progression.

    ----------

Spawn out of now here? that does not sound immersive, rather ridicilous is everyone using the warp?

Large scale combat map which is even larger then Ps2 it just begs to have ways to get around or is this just an opinion of dislike?

Bikes wont work in this case as well if mounts wont do as they are only aesthethical and give same speed as bikes, is this what your saying?

Cant fight and only is transportation out of combat, solves unfair advantage, solves the issue of rhino not being good enough anymore, remember rhino is calldown not free, how do i move around in this wast battlefield which is even bigger then Ps2 when it takes me a ton of time walking to a certain fight?

I can come up with more solutions and balance the way this works which will make people happy.

This is not WoW people its warhammer 40,000 large scale battlefield, if its in lore or fluff it is viable of an option.
  3. - You mean I can't write my opinion and explain why? That's just unreasonable and stupid. BTW I do like it, but gameplay wise the concept is unnecessary and it wont work. You have to look at things in a realistic perspective.

-The "out of combat" thing doesn't exist in games like this, dunno if you're aware.

    - Again, in a constant battlefield there's no "out of combat", its near impossible for the game to tell you when you're out of combat when you're constantly in combat.

    - No real point in other vehicles then, if you have one constantly with you.

    - Doesn't make any sense really.

    - Dark God specifications haven't even been confirmed for launch.(Steven Lumpkin mentioned it as a post launch thing in his last twitch stream.)

    - Bikes can also be combat armed, so having a wolf could also be an disadvantage?

    Bikes for SM...
    Jetbikes for Eldar...
Washing machines with 2 wheels strapped underneath for Orcs...
Bikes, juggernauts, flying disks or any other option (sorry I'm not an expert in Chaos fast attacks units, so just throwing names)...

All personal transports bought with requisition points.
Make them as vulnerable to enemy fire as any other vehicle...Not capturable , can't be hidden away or appear from thin air with a inventory icon...if they are lost, they are lost, like every other vehicle, unless repaired...
Buy them for low price and spawn them only at specific controlled points, like outposts...

I hope I covered most angles here...:)
    Dr.Sandvich likes this.
  5. - I was comparing to the bikes, you think things will just drop out of the sky? You have bases where you can get your vehicles.

    - Vehicles are not spawned out of nowhere, you have vehicle depos where you can get the vehicles, so having a mount basically means you don't have to go anywhere to get fast transportation.

    - "out of combat" doesn't exist in these games. Do you really think 100+ people will be airdropping vehicles everywhere? It will probably work more like PS2 where you get the vehicles from certain buildings.

    - Its viable for an option if its doable. Again, this is not WoW or GW2 combat. Its large scale PS2 sort combat.

    This.

    Think always.

    Lore: Check.

    Cash shop implementation: Check.

    Money gain: Check.

More variations in the cash shop: Check.

It is a win situation, you just dont like it.

I am getting a bit sick of the "NO NO NO" from your negativity.

Lore supports it, there are miniatures, they are just as the bikes just reskinned, they can be in bases if you want to.

Seriously enough is enough they are 100% supportable the question lies with Bhvr if they want it in or not.

As a space wolf, I would love to have wolf mounts, but there are too many problems and a balancing nightmare with that.
So let's stick to more "conservative" ideas that apply to everyone.

Btw, dev's promised me this as my personal, unique, mount...

I hope you guys don't find it too much...I have plenty of room for friends on this...:p

What about my idea? I mean it would be nice to implement these things into EC but just without turning them into companions or mounts like with WoW or Rift since people are sick and tired of those kinds of things. Though maybe as a mekboy i wouldn't mind carrying a grot around once and a while, just so i can strap a bomb on him and throw him at my enemies to blow them up to kingdom come in true orky fashion or as a powerful chaos sorcerer turn a random enemy or ally into a Chaos spawn to wreck havoc on the battlefield like a sorcerer should. :p
  9. You gotta be joking, right?
Since you don't seem to understand my point, I'm gonna make it short for you:
First of all, bikes are vehicles, therefore you need to buy them for ingame currency at a specific place, otherwise it would be thousands of bikes coming from the sky for no reason whatsoever.( Play some Planetside 2) Its simple logistics for a large scale shooter.
Also, there are no ability bars, its a third person shooter, so you cant just spawn vehicles.(check their FAQ)

If you want a wolf skin on your bike, an since its still a bike, the wolf just stands there, it doesn't vanish, its still a bike, a vehicle, which doesn't disappear, you could say "oh, couldn't you just make it disappear when i would leave it?"or, "make it be self aware?" no, because that would go against their in-game store policies since its no longer only aesthetic, it also behaves differently thus, affecting gameplay. I wont even begin with the problems with exclusivity issues in relation to skins for other chapters.

Their RPG elements are positioning, wargear and teamwork(again, on their FAQ), you cant have a non combat conditioner on a shooter, that just sounds silly.
You're giving unrealistic solutions to a different game, and you're not really pros and cons of anything since you just really want to win this argument.

I'm sorry man but its not really possible, and most people will agree with me.

Looking at things in a logical and realistic way isn't negative, its opinion supported by arguments.

Well, i am going to say a few things.

I think you have opinions only, while i have facts through lore all along supporting my claims, last time i saw it was facts win over opinion.

You were against the juggernaut, but all of an sudden your pro juggernaut when someone else posted it, hypocritical of an view.

I also believe you have made up your opinion and no facts, no nothing will sway you from that path and even if i counter every single comment you have now you will come back again with new ones, in the end it is a waste of time.

It is feasible if ones mind is open to the idea if it is not then nothing is truly feasible.
